Does "not subpar" translate into making the most money on the team and soaking up 10% of the cap?
Not subpar for your highest paid player for the year is a pretty low bar. He needs to play better. Three points in the last 5 games is a good start.

I guess he set such a low bar in the first quarter of the season that it pretty much impossible not to get better in the second quarter. .

I just want to see him get better. Like I said, my original comment was about the lack of Laughton, the face off argument to me was stupid, go look at Hirschier, dude is 56% on face offs and has taken like 200 more than anybody else, yet he has only 3 goals and no assists! I'll take point production over face off percentage any day.

Coots is getting better as we speak, no question about it, but that's also because he's getting more ice now and more opportunities, like on the power play, for example.

Hischier is a #1 overall pick on a stacked offensive team. Also, he's getting 20:23 ice per game and is on one of the top power play units in the league. The guy also happens to be 6 years younger. Hardly a fair comparison to Couturier or any other center on our team.

This might be obvious to some, but it needs to be stated for others.

You don't just win games by scoring goals, you also win them by keeping the puck out of your own net and some players do that better than others.

Our goaltending situation is definitely hurting us right now. We should've beaten Vegas and I mostly hang that on Fedotov. Samsonov outdueled him.

Hindsight is 20/20, but sadly, we could've drafted Makar 2nd overall instead of Patrick in 2017 when Hischier went 1st overall.

The scouting has to be better or we have to get lucky somewhere.

Sean Couturier wins it in overtime!! Goals now in three straight games.

You're all very fucking welcome.

Frost and Laughton also find the back of the net in this one. The more you clowns pick on our centers, the better they seem to perform, so let's keep it going...Lol

I like the look on Fedotov lately. From his first game this season until now, is night and day. He looks 100% more focused a lot looser. If he can keep it up when Errson gets healthy we may have a decent tandem. This was the second game since the Buffalo one where everyone was clicking. It looks good when we are, just wish it didn't keep disappearing for stretches, but I'll take the growth, baby steps.

The scoreboard didn't really show it, but we largely dominated the Rags this afternoon. It should've been 4-0 or 5-0 us before they ever scored a goal. We will take the 3-1 win though, after Konecny taps in the empty-net goal. We led 2-0 or 2-1 for the vast majority of the game and Fedotov, while awkward at times playing the puck outside the net, made the saves that he had to make.

Lots of guys are stepping up and playing well. It's as much a team effort now as it has been at any point in the season. The refs might as well have skipped this game and not even been on the ice as only one penalty was called between two teams that really hate each other. The crowd was really animated in this one too.

Yeah, we've played a couple extra games, but amazingly are tied with the NYR at 25 points. On just November 20th, we were 7 points behind them.

Since our captain Sean Couturier is so overpaid and nothing he does helps us win games, we'll continue to analyze his results:

3 goals, 2 assists, 5 points, 12 shots and a +4 in just his last 4 games.
