I just want to post this because of the baseless hate of a very good CB Riq Woolen.

Woolen gets overlooked a bit in the discussion of top cornerbacks because he hasn't replicated his rookie success after leading the NFL in interceptions (six), but his PFF advanced coverage grade across the past three years ranks 13th in the NFL. He has allowed just 0.72 yards per cover snap since 2023, the sixth-best rate at the position in the NFL.

He's a cover corner. He's not going to be a tackling massive hitting corner like Witherspoon. Deion Sanders was a HORRIBLE tackling DB and still made one of the biggest impacts in the game. Mac needs to realize that Woolen is not a zone DB and just have him stick to man coverage.

I had an interesting dream last night... we were down 14-0 to the Rams... we only had like 50 yards of offense and had gone 3 and out on most drives. Darnold had been sacked a ton. And then Jalen Milroe came in and threw a TD...

I would put Woolen on the #1 and let him follow him around man on man for a whole game. That would be his job to play man defense all game long then let the rest of the defense work how ever they want, zone, quarters, Man, hybred what ever. I mean you have 3 safeties on the field a ton in the Seahawks defense so just let Woolen man up and stick to "his" man. This works into his skill set of just being more athletic and faster than most.

Will he get beat? Yes even sherman was toasted more than people here like to admit and Sherman would say it was someone elses fault. Revis yep he was burnt a few times a year, Sanders, Yep. No ones perfect but like Revis, Sherman, Sanders, Just ignore those plays and if someone brings it up change the story to all the stops you got and it's soon forgotten. lol.

I agree entirely.

Stop trying to play Woolen in zone... Just man him up.

Mac now has enough to fuck around with in the secondary. Love can do FS/SS, Bryant can do nickel (in run defense anyway) and SS, Witherspoon can basically do anything, Emmanwori if coached up a bit can basically do anything (he was even utilized as an outside DB in SC).

I know the dream is to coach up Woolen to be some 'hybrid' but just stick him to a guy and tell him to cover the route. He was a WR to begin with, he understands it, and he proved last year he just doesn't get zone coverage concepts or when to bail on it. And teaching how to play zone is VERY difficult. Some pros get it and some just never do. Zone is generally better (IMO) than man but it requires an INSANE amount of football IQ.. because you have to know when to abandon the zone and go man or attack the run. That's EXTREMELY hard to do. It's why DBs that play zone well go highly in the draft. Or you get drafted by the Jets and your last name is Gardner and you just DPI and hold every time and get away with it.

That said, you still need man corners. But stop trying to force a square peg in a round hole.

Dickson locked up for 4 years and is now the highest paid punter in the NFL.

I can't give it an A grade but I will give it a B. Dickson IMO is one of the best punters in the NFL so it was crucial we locked him up. He should be a regular AP/Pro Bowler, but the NFL is fairly bias with how special teams work (just pick a punter on a high end playoff team).

Yeah, I'm still salty that Rick Tuten wasn't AP or PB in 1992. 94 seemed to be a make up selection and I guess the Super Bowl ring is a nice consolation prize.

Lots of talk about Jalen Milroe through out these mini camps, so what do you guys think? Me, i think its overblown hype BS. Milroe is a athletic QB who is built more like a big RB not a QB. Yes he has a strong arm and has the ability to run like a stud RB but that doesnt make you a good QB. I want to hear them talking about his ability to read a defense to throw accurate on time passes. Not his athletic ability. The Best QB's were never the "most athletic". Brady, Manning, Brees. Even Mahomes really isn't that athletic.

Lamar Jackson is prob the most athletic QB in the NFL right now and the Ravens have built around that but he still has moments in EVERY game where you think " damn he can't play typical drop back style consistently enough".

I mean all you're going to read is "Looks great, makes great strides, looks amazing!" from clickbait media.

End of day Milroe has a ton of work to do regarding footwork and decision making to be a starter in the NFL. Those ARE teachable (unlike arm strength/mobility/size and I could even argue throwing mechanics like our boy Tebow who just couldn't get past the javelin throw), but very difficult to do.

The ONLY upside I consider with Milroe, is his work ethic. He'll 100% try and work hard. Now whether he gets there? Eh. I give it a 5-10% chance (and that's just to be a good starter, not even elite). Again, VERY hard mechanics to learn. And even if you come out of College and you're elite according to College football in that regard, it's generally still not enough.

sad truth is a QB like Russell Wilson comes out and they talk about his unbelievable football IQ and work ethic. This was hammered into our heads but I have yet to hear even a pin drop about Milroe's football IQ. Watching Tape i see a QB surviving because of his Athletic ability and Lamar has proven that it is possible but it's also the first ability they lose.

Well that's kind of it... Russell Wilson had a very good football IQ. He wasn't AS athletic as Milroe but he was in the same category. Everyone stayed away from Wilson because his height. Wilson also wasn't a great pre-read QB - his legs allowed him to make up for that (Milroe isn't any different).

Milroe is a better athlete than Wilson, better size, but doesn't have nearly the same football IQ. He has a similar work ethic so he could learn... but not quite the same prospect.

Again, I said before the draft I'd grade Milroe an F if we took him before the 7th (or so)... and I still stand by it today. That said, despite the F and what we could've had instead (Wilson/Grant) I'll at least give a slight 'give' to the FO for trying to take a QB of the future.

I would've much rather had Wilson (talking Jared now - not Russell).. I thought it's who we were gonna take when he was there. He was an insanely athletic C, fits well in zone.. needs some double team help against larger DL but that's okay (most centers do)... whatever. It kind of annoys me Seattle keeps passing on good center prospects. Wilson should've gone in the 2nd round lol. At least we drafted the most important position in sports and not a stupid WR tweener like Eskridge over Humphrey again....

That reminds me of the game around 10 years ago when we were up 17 on the Rams with 6 minutes and some change remaining in the 4th quarter... We gave up 20 unanswered points and lost... Michael Boulware gave up two of those TD's...

That was closer to 20 years ago, 2004 maybe?

That's an awful nightmare. On the flip side Seahawks will have a high draft pick.
