I just want to post this because of the baseless hate of a very good CB Riq Woolen.

Woolen gets overlooked a bit in the discussion of top cornerbacks because he hasn't replicated his rookie success after leading the NFL in interceptions (six), but his PFF advanced coverage grade across the past three years ranks 13th in the NFL. He has allowed just 0.72 yards per cover snap since 2023, the sixth-best rate at the position in the NFL.

He's a cover corner. He's not going to be a tackling massive hitting corner like Witherspoon. Deion Sanders was a HORRIBLE tackling DB and still made one of the biggest impacts in the game. Mac needs to realize that Woolen is not a zone DB and just have him stick to man coverage.

I had an interesting dream last night... we were down 14-0 to the Rams... we only had like 50 yards of offense and had gone 3 and out on most drives. Darnold had been sacked a ton. And then Jalen Milroe came in and threw a TD...

I would put Woolen on the #1 and let him follow him around man on man for a whole game. That would be his job to play man defense all game long then let the rest of the defense work how ever they want, zone, quarters, Man, hybred what ever. I mean you have 3 safeties on the field a ton in the Seahawks defense so just let Woolen man up and stick to "his" man. This works into his skill set of just being more athletic and faster than most.

Will he get beat? Yes even sherman was toasted more than people here like to admit and Sherman would say it was someone elses fault. Revis yep he was burnt a few times a year, Sanders, Yep. No ones perfect but like Revis, Sherman, Sanders, Just ignore those plays and if someone brings it up change the story to all the stops you got and it's soon forgotten. lol.

I agree entirely.

Stop trying to play Woolen in zone... Just man him up.

Mac now has enough to fuck around with in the secondary. Love can do FS/SS, Bryant can do nickel (in run defense anyway) and SS, Witherspoon can basically do anything, Emmanwori if coached up a bit can basically do anything (he was even utilized as an outside DB in SC).

I know the dream is to coach up Woolen to be some 'hybrid' but just stick him to a guy and tell him to cover the route. He was a WR to begin with, he understands it, and he proved last year he just doesn't get zone coverage concepts or when to bail on it. And teaching how to play zone is VERY difficult. Some pros get it and some just never do. Zone is generally better (IMO) than man but it requires an INSANE amount of football IQ.. because you have to know when to abandon the zone and go man or attack the run. That's EXTREMELY hard to do. It's why DBs that play zone well go highly in the draft. Or you get drafted by the Jets and your last name is Gardner and you just DPI and hold every time and get away with it.

That said, you still need man corners. But stop trying to force a square peg in a round hole.

Dickson locked up for 4 years and is now the highest paid punter in the NFL.

I can't give it an A grade but I will give it a B. Dickson IMO is one of the best punters in the NFL so it was crucial we locked him up. He should be a regular AP/Pro Bowler, but the NFL is fairly bias with how special teams work (just pick a punter on a high end playoff team).
