Pitching and defense carries you in the playoffs. Our pitching top to bottom including bullpen > Boston, Oakland, Baltimore, Detroit, and maybe Tampa bay. We just gotta be hot at the right time.

Couldn't agree more about the pitching and defense, but you still have to score runs, more than two....we don't have 5 Aces out there.

Offense in the playoffs require unsung and unexpected heroes and just about every great playoff run especially in baseball usually needs that to win that illustrious ring. As Romeo said yes we need to be hot at the right time but getting that timely play from guys who aren't expected to do so will be a player if we can make that magical run and get that ring.

And we have those role players. Guys like gentry, Baker, Profar, and Moreland are all capable of being that guy.

Yep absolutely agree. Hell even a guy like Murphy you never know could redeem himself with a swing of the bat in a big boy critical situation. It's what makes this game so unpredictable and great at the same time.

Rangers Assistant GM Thad Levine told Jim Bowden and Jim Duquette of MLB Network Radio (via Bowden on Twitter), if the club is going to make a trade before August 31st (players acquired after this date are ineligible for the post-season), it will be for a starting pitcher.
Levine adds (again from a Bowden tweet) the Rangers have been searching the waiver wire actively, but most of the quality players are being claimed before them.
