Letting Neal walk had nothing to do with Jamal Adams. I don't know why they let Neal go, but the Seahawks brought in Julian Love and paid him nearly $4 million this year. Neal signed for $1 million in Tampa Bay. I would've been fine giving Neal Love's deal.

They paid another safety $12 million over 2 years while not paying Neal. Obviously, Adams and Diggs both making $18 million this year had no effect on the team signing another safety. Hell, I'd opine the team never intended on brining Neal back.

Last year Adams went down week 1. How many games was it before Neal saw significant defensive snaps? Week 4 against Detroit when he saw 49% of the defensive snaps (6 the previous 3 weeks combined). Week 5 before he became the starter after Josh Jones was atrocious for 3 weeks and got benched (though Jones still saw at least 10 snaps on defense every game until the one he got hurt in).

Despite what fans saw as really good play in place of Adams in 2020 & 21, Neal was so low on the depth chart in 2022 a practice squad signee at safety was higher on the depth chart going into the season than Neal was.

Maybe the Huskies could teach Carroll how to run a defense.. I think he's gone full dementia over the last 4-5 years.

After watching that sh&$ show of a defensive scheme last week I have zero confidence we win this game… Jamal and Witherspoon coming back can help, but Detroit right now I think has one of their best teams in a loooong time .. Geno also last week looked very shaky, I realize he had some lineman out, but he didn’t exactly look like a Jedi trying to win a game, he folded like a cheap tent …

Eh sucks about Mafe. He actually played okay last week. Cross being out sucks but was expected. I wonder if Peters will start? Might as well get him going because if Cross has turf toe that's 6-8 weeks...
