From Jeff Wilson:

Wyatt Langford is expected to be at Globe Life Field on Monday, two sources said, and he and the Texas Rangers could finalize his first professional contract this week after he takes a physical exam.

The Rangers have not announced the signings of any draft picks, but amateur scouting director Kip Fagg said last week that the Rangers expect to sign their first eight picks. After selecting Langford, the Rangers didn’t pick again until the fourth round.

From Jim Bowden in Ohtani:

A best-case scenario for the Angels would be if Ohtani’s representatives at CAA came to them and said, “If you trade him to team X, we would try to work out a long-term deal with that team during a 48-hour window.” (Trades can be structured so that they’re pending an agreement between the player and his new team.) Then, the Angels could maximize the return even further. However, I’m told by major-league sources that scenario is not realistic, and that Ohtani is going to hit free agency in November so he can receive his true value, which most industry experts believe will be somewhere between $500 million and $600 million.

Bowden gives 10 possible landing spots for Ohtani in trade. Texas is 4th.

Correct. The MLBPA is interested in every player getting the largest contract possible, because that affects the current market and future markets.

This will be the largest contract ever signed (up to this point).

Mets are adjusting their rotation to ensure that Verlander and Scherzer get an extra start between now and the trade deadline. Looks like they’re looking to improve their trade value
