Wouldn’t that be a kick in the groin if we resigned Scherzer and sent Leiter to AAA or worse relegate him to the pen

This board would go nuts

Leiter would still start the season in the rotation because Scherzer would be on the DL by the time the season started. Scherzer would get about 6 to 8 starts all year and Leiter could get the rest of them.

Of course, they could always trade Leiter for a relief pitcher who cannot be trusted. Then Leiter could suddenly get better and become an ace due his his changing locations.

Ideally Leiter starts it is just not a given
What if unpredictably opts in then my guess is Leiter is in AAA as first man up

but of course we should be and maybe have to be prudent with spending until Revenue is resolved
So, you are saying don't spend on a replacement in case Leiter falls apart in ST, but don't name him the starter until late March?

I think that works out the same way as my scenario, because I don't see him having a bad Spring Training. Now, maybe he has a bad April, but probably a good ST.

Do I detect a little sarcasm?

Has the standard been so watered down that you have caved lol.
I did not say 9. If we have all 5 inning max starters then the pen will be burned.

I heard MLB is considering ideas that will extend the length of SPs
I don't expect Leiter to not be able to go 7 innings. I think he could be in the rotation all next year and go 7 innings as many times as just about anyone in the rotation. They have been careful with him this year and have held him back at times. That doesn't mean he won't be capable of doing more next year.

I am just saying the Rangers have no problem with a pitcher only making it twice through the lineup.

When you build a rotation different types and looks of pitchers are important

Bradford fits right in for the Rangers

JDG
Rocker
Mahle
Bradford
Probably Leiter or FA pickup

Ha this is what I posted on another Twitter board

I do wonder sometimes if we might be counting too much on Mahle. He may be as fragile as deGrom.

I think Emiliano Teodo will be the first starter up, in case of injury. Then maybe Garcia and Acker. Santos, Drake and Rosario will not be far behind. If we don't trade one of those guys we could be deeper in the top 2 levels than we have ever been.

Good point. CY should quit bringing in wounded pitchers and concentrate on how to develop Leiter and the likes.

Jeff Wilson on Blaine Crim:

The Round Rock season ends Sunday at Tacoma as the Rangers head to the West Coast for their final road trip. It would be a short trip for him to join the big-league club.

Crim hit his 20th homer of the season Wednesday, giving him 20-homer seasons in each of his four full professional seasons. The Rangers have had their chances to promote him but haven’t taken them. They know he deserves a chance but haven’t given it to him.
It doesn’t make much sense.

Kohl Drake pitches tonight in Game 2 of the Roughriders playoff series with Midland. Let's hope he gets more run support than Santos did a couple of nights ago.

I really don't want MLB to mess with something in regards to trying to extend the length of SP's.

I don’t like limited callups but they surely did I need to have the carousel of relievers

Thinking the rational of trying to max SP outings is to keep guys from max velo and thus lessen injuries

Alot of hurdles to make changes
Too early for my opinion

If they are ready this is ideal

true but doesn't that hold true for most starters? i mean we are counting on Rocker and Leiter being a major part of the rotation based on what?

For the record. This is who CY mentions as being excited about in pregame interview with Sandler

My question was sbout his ability to stay healthy, based on how he got hurt again just after coming back from another injury.

The Blue Jays are definitely a lot tougher test that the Mariners for Rocker.
