Wouldn’t that be a kick in the groin if we resigned Scherzer and sent Leiter to AAA or worse relegate him to the pen
This board would go nuts

That's true too, but the point is that they have no problem with starters not going 7 innings.and Heaney is a free agent at the end of the season
Leiter would still start the season in the rotation because Scherzer would be on the DL by the time the season started. Scherzer would get about 6 to 8 starts all year and Leiter could get the rest of them.Wouldn’t that be a kick in the groin if we resigned Scherzer and sent Leiter to AAA or worse relegate him to the pen

So, you are saying don't spend on a replacement in case Leiter falls apart in ST, but don't name him the starter until late March?Ideally Leiter starts it is just not a given
What if unpredictably opts in then my guess is Leiter is in AAA as first man up
but of course we should be and maybe have to be prudent with spending until Revenue is resolved
Do I detect a little sarcasm?Leiter would still start the season in the rotation because Scherzer would be on the DL by the time the season started. Scherzer would get about 6 to 8 starts all year and Leiter could get the rest of them.
Of course, they could always trade Leiter for a relief pitcher who cannot be trusted. Then Leiter could suddenly get better and become an ace due his his changing locations.
I don't expect Leiter to not be able to go 7 innings. I think he could be in the rotation all next year and go 7 innings as many times as just about anyone in the rotation. They have been careful with him this year and have held him back at times. That doesn't mean he won't be capable of doing more next year.Has the standard been so watered down that you have caved lol.
I did not say 9. If we have all 5 inning max starters then the pen will be burned.
I heard MLB is considering ideas that will extend the length of SPs
I do wonder sometimes if we might be counting too much on Mahle. He may be as fragile as deGrom. When you build a rotation different types and looks of pitchers are important
Bradford fits right in for the Rangers
JDG
Rocker
Mahle
Bradford
Probably Leiter or FA pickup
Ha this is what I posted on another Twitter board
Good point. CY should quit bringing in wounded pitchers and concentrate on how to develop Leiter and the likes.I do wonder sometimes if we might be counting too much on Mahle. He may be as fragile as deGrom.
I really don't want MLB to mess with something in regards to trying to extend the length of SP's.Has the standard been so watered down that you have caved lol.

I don’t like limited callups but they surely did I need to have the carousel of relieversI really don't want MLB to mess with something in regards to trying to extend the length of SP's.
If they are ready this is idealI think Emiliano Teodo will be the first starter up, in case of injury. Then maybe Garcia and Acker. Santos, Drake and Rosario will not be far behind. If we don't trade one of those guys we could be deeper in the top 2 levels than we have ever been.
true but doesn't that hold true for most starters? i mean we are counting on Rocker and Leiter being a major part of the rotation based on what?I do wonder sometimes if we might be counting too much on Mahle. He may be as fragile as deGrom.

My question was sbout his ability to stay healthy, based on how he got hurt again just after coming back from another injury.true but doesn't that hold true for most starters? i mean we are counting on Rocker and Leiter being a major part of the rotation based on what?
