Series Thread: Rangers Host Seattle For Three Games September 20-22

The Rangers look to win another home series. The Mariners are desperately trying to make a push and get into the postseason as the third wildcard.

The Rangers currently have the 7th best draft lottery odds. A late season surge could see them move all the way down to 12th or worse. They also have a chance to move up to 5th best lottery odds. Right now, losing games is not the worst thing that could happen to this team. Ironically, the Rangers faced Dillon Tate for an inning yesterday, to serve as a reminder about the importance of drafting position in the first round.

Probable pitching matchups for this weekend’s series vs. Seattle:

Fri: RHP Jacob deGrom vs. RHP George Kirby
Sat: RHP Max Scherzer vs. RHP Emerson Hancock
Sun: LHP Andrew Heaney vs. RHP Bryan Woo

Frisco hosts Midland tonight for the deciding game in their 3 game series. Mitch Bratt is thought to be the starting pitcher, although nothing is official yet. Hopefully, Frisco wins and stays alive in their postseason. This is great experience for those guys.

Congratulations to Rangers prospect INF Sebastian Walcott, who was selected to the South Atlantic League Postseason All-Star team in voting by league managers.

Walcott, 18, slashed .261/.342/.443/.785 (113-433) with 10 home runs, 9 triples, 31 doubles, and 49 RBI in 116 games for High-A Hickory this season, ranking among South Atlantic League leaders in TB (1st, 192), XBH (1st, 50), 3B (1st), H (2nd), and 2B (2nd).


The Nassau, Bahamas native was originally signed by the Rangers as a non-drafted free agent on January 15, 2023. Walcott is currently rated as the 35th-best prospect in baseball (1st in TEX org.) by MLB Pipeline.

I just don't know if Leiter ever gets there. Mariners are the worst hitting team in baseball and they shelled him.

Hes got good stuff but just can not locate his FB. Really disappointed in his development. If he can't cut it next season I want to move him while he still has some value.

But I hope he figures it out.
