Jeff Wilson thinks Scherzer's next start will be for the Rangers.
I was hoping it would be in next series against Mets but think it. Tinoco will be next casualty

Huff needs to ask to be traded or released. How can you justify resting Heim every 3rd game and not Knizner.

The three Hedges career OPS as A Ranger

Hedges I - .417
Hedges II - .322
Hedges III - .766

Give me Hedges III every day of the week.

I think Bochy is asking to be slapped, myself. He is letting a personal vendetta hurt our chances of winning against our greatest competition.

This Ranger offense is obviously struggling this year...in fact it's made them downright boring to watch.

BUT...the Mariners pitching has been excellent this year, probably best staff in AL. So this weekend shouldn't be a surprise.

i guess i only saw the bad at-bats with Huff because it always seems to me, he was always struggling against major league pitching. guess we should do a Taveras and troop Huff out there 3 to 5 games a week

From Scott Lucas:

Max Scherzer allowed more runs than you'd like in a Triple A game, but they don't really matter. He looked like Max Scherzer to me. The only potential concern is velocity, and most of his offerings were below 2023 velocity. Here's his 2023 averages (left) compared to last night (right):

FB: 93.7, 92.1
CT: 88.4, 86.4
SL: 84.0, 84.3
CH: 83.8, 81.9
CB: 75.4, 74.1

The difference could be a combination of ongoing recovery, simply being who he is (not a young man, relatively speaking), and just being one of those days. The question is whether Texas decides another rehab outing is worthwhile.

The Joshes Jung and Sborz will rehab in Round Rock tonight.

He has played up here in 3 seasons prior to this year, and he put up good numbers in 2 of them.

His numbers were worse in 2022, but still much better than what Knizner or Hedges have done here. He had one very bad stretch that year between June 14 and September 27. He played in only 16 games in that stretch, 14 of which were starts. He had an OPS in 2022 right at .800 prior to that stretch. In a short period after that bad stretch he had an OPS of over .880 to close out that season.

A lot of folks let that one three month stretch where he played very sporadically, define who he is as a hitter.

Looking at the upcoming schedule I think we could go 16-21 between now and the AS break. That would put us at 45-51.
4-8 so far.

It really looks like we will be sellers at the break.

okay so next season we use him as our DH with him playing occasionally at 1B and C. i still would consider bringing in Carson Kelly and carrying Heim, Huff and Kelly as my DH catching corps, backup Catcher, DH & 1B. i'm also moving with several on here who want to trade Lowe and bring in someone else to play most of the time at 1st. someone like Guerrero.

but my main concentration would be constructing a quality bullpen starting from now and through the off-season. names like Mason Miller, Tanner Scott, Yimi Garcia, etc through trades or free agency. picking up David Robertson's option and resigning Kirby Yates
