The veteran for veteran trade is something that you rarely ever see any longer.

As fat as selling goes, unless we show we can make the playoffs, selling is the smart thing to do. Other than winning 82 games versus 72 to 75 games, there would be no reason not to sell, if we cannot be in the postseason.
The reason would be everyone else is underperforming in the division and 90 games may win it. Too close to sell just yet
There is still time to decide
And I have other reasons to err or be patient even if no sure thing.
Sends a very bad message to be committed to sell at this point

I agree about not selling now. I meant at the end of the month, if thinks don't look better. It could be time to send that message then.

Yeah but let’s hope not

Maybe not selling and us contending makes us more attractive if we are signing a 1B or pitcher

Definite 2 + weeks of important ball

We didn't need that to sign Semien, Seager, deGrom, Eovaldi, Gray, Yates, Robertson, or Heaney. That part doesn't worry me any longer.

If we do have to sell, we are in a great position to bring in some guys to help us compete in the next year to several years, as well as provide depth to trade from. Maybe we can acquire a young Ragans, Clase, or Fairbanks type guy instead of almost giving them away ourselves. 2025 and beyond could be a whole lot brighter if we are in the position to sell and do so properly.

Then again maybe we will win 9 of the next 10 and never look back.

The worst thing that could happen is if we play over our heads for 2 weeks and then go back to not scoring runs. I hope we either get turned around for good or we become sellers. It is just that, for over the last 175 regular season games or so, this team hasn't shown to be an above .500 team.

Going into the last half of the season this is how I think i would rank our starting pitcher prospects. After the first couple of guys the rest are all fairly close, in my estimation.

Teodo
Rosario
Santos
Rocker
Drake
Corniell
Leiter
Bratt
Porter
Acker
Tiger

If we do sell we really need to acquire a couple of upper level starting pitchers and some hitters at most every level. Some really good AAA relievers would be great, too.

If the Rangers know that they’re not going to bring someone back. They need to get something for them. I would hang onto Yates. But I think him and Lorenzen will be to expensive bring back.

I think the next 4 series will go something like this.

1-2
3-1
1-2
1-2

Does that make us buyers or sellers? That probably depends on Houston and Seattle. If Houston goes 7-2 while we go 4-5 over the next 9 games that would put us. 7 behind the Astros. I don't think CY sells if we are within 7 games of Houston unless Seattle is 6 in front of us as well. It is a lot harder to chase 2 teams. I wonder if 8 games behind tips it in the other direction. I am almost certain being 6 games or less behind makes us buyers. I don't think we will stand pat.

So if we win series we should make up ground Big series between Ms and Astros
We are trending the right way getting healthy so there is optimism

But you have to play the games. I would hope we win series against the ChiSox Cards and Jays who may be sellers anyways
Maybe we revisit then

So have to hope guys coming back like Carter and Jung make a positive impact and Wyatt comes back strong and our weak bats do better comparable to last year
Our pen is improved and our SP has a chance to be better

A lot of ifs but have to think a team like this plays to win and not for next year.

This team could go 7-0 or 0-7, or we could sweep the Orioles and get swept by the White Sox. Lol

From Carlos Collazo:

"The #Rangers signed 10th rounder Jake Jekielek for $20,000. Slot value for the 315th pick is $178,800."

We should have several of these below slot signings, I would think.

The heat was the problem in the past. Playing indoors has changed much of being able to sign top tier players.

We are sellers if we go 6-7 over that stretch. Even if only 5 or 6 back at that point it doesn't make sense to buy. Would need a 9-4 type run to stand pat in my opinion. But what do I know?
