Leiter should probably still be starting for Round Rock. At least he should have made more starts there before coming up. Furthermore, don't give him the Ragans treatment by putting him in the bullpen.

They simply used Leiter for innings instead of being concerned with his development. The terrible way they have managed pitchers over the years continues, especially as they reach the upper levels. The kid has needed confidence more than anything, and he was set up to get that at AAA, and they promptly removed him from getting that chance. Oh well, maybe he can build that up again next year in AAA and come up here sometime in the latter half of 2025.

He doesn’t need ‘innings’ he needs starts. He’s a starter. They did it to Bradford and he made the cut and escaped the bullpen.

Look for Leiter to go the way of Ragans if he doesn’t have sparkling numbers by the all-star break. He’ll get traded to KC and become a 20 game winner.

Unfortunately, I think the absence of Crim on the roater to this point, has shown that the Rangers have no intention of putting him on the 40 man this winter. If that is the case he will certainly be selected in Rule 5.

Yeah, it had more to do with Bochy than not being mathematically eliminated. You have to have star prospect status to get much playing time with Bochy if you are very young with an older alternative around.

Bochy has his plusses but inspiration to the young does not appear to be one

CJ Abrams stayed up all night at a casino so the Nationals demoted him to Class A ball, even though that level has no games left.

It never made sense to put Scherzer back into the rotation at the expense of giving Leiter more starts. It would be dumb to assume Scherzer could stay healthy since he hasn't been able to do that in over a year.
