cd you could say that about most teams as far as this team could of done this or that.. The bottom line is, good teams win close games and that's what the RAIDERS did.. To the tune of 12-4

And the RAIDERS did plenty to fix the defense cd. We have all our young returning players and more draft picks this year.. The RAIDER defense will be pretty good this year, and that's all you need in this league..

I understand good teams win close games but not to the tune that the Raiders did this past year. Heck even the Patriots didn't win at that high of a rate in those games. Patriots in their last 11 games decided by a touchdown or less are 7-4. So they have been the cream of the crop when it comes to winning and yet even in those close games they have struggled just a bit. Very few teams repeat such a feat as going 10-1 in games decided by a touchdown or less.

I just don't agree with this post cd.

All those close games were hard fought, nothing came easy.. It just goes to show what a good young team that believes it could win can do.. Mack, Irvin and others making plays on defense while Carr, Coop, and the rest of the offense making plays on offense.. Refuse to lose dude, that's how you do it.
Heck even with the most FLAGS in NFL history could not stop us from winning against the Bucs..
Nothing lucky about none of those WINS, just playmakers making plays..

Well I guess just agree to disagree on this. If you think no luck was involved at all then I got a beach front property in Nebraska available for you. I'm not saying it was all luck. Obviously skill was needed to be in the right situation to win those games. The NFL though even has a stat called the "luck stat" because of the shape of the football it makes it where things are not always perfect of how the ball bounces.

Being lucky in football is like kicking some 58 yard field goal with time running out, and the ball hitting the crossbar and bouncing in. Lucky bounce! Or some type of miracle catch where the WR catches it with his helmet like that Giants WR did in the SB. Lucky catch!!

Derek Carr driving down the field in the closing moments of a game while dropping dimes to his WRs is not really lucky, it's called talent. Now does luck play a small part in the game? Sure it does and i just gave you a few examples. I didn't see any miracle plays like those last year, did you? What i did see was a young team making plays with the game on the line and winning said games..

Oh I could go through a list but not really worth my time. Working on an article for the website I write for on the Broncos right now so don't have the time anyway. Plus have to get things ready for my radio show on Sunday talking about the off ball linebackers on the Broncos. Anyway I guess we will just see if the bounces continue to go the Raiders' way.

Thanks! It has been a fun gig. Just found out today we got a new sponsor for our show and will be making some decent money off of it. Good to see others liking our product and wanting to help keep it going. I do the show with another writer on the Hoop so it has been fun to bounce things back and forth on here and elsewhere with each other.

Haha not sure ESPN is where any writer/media person wants to find themselves right now. The site I work for is owned by CBS. They have been really cool about giving us media credentials and getting into different events. My co-host actually was at the Combine interviewing players! They are wanting us to go down to the Senior Bowl this winter and talk with players/coaches. My wife actually said "go for it" so we will see if I can make it work with my schedule. It has been a lot of fun getting inside sources with the NFL and getting the chance to talk to some people much more invested in the sport. Plus been fun to interact with some players and we are working on setting up some interviews with players.

You running with the big dogs from CBS! Media credentials, interviewing players, etc, etc.. Sounds legit dude, and more importantly FUN!!
Soon you will be a RockStar! Go take it.
Well, like i always say? Those type of cats are the best ones to debate.

Thanks! Long ways away from the big boys but it is a start. Considering I just got into sports writing less than a year ago very proud to be where I am at right now. And like you said most importantly it has been fun. Definitely have studied the game more than ever before and have really gotten some great coaching books to help learn the game all the more. The cool thing has been getting into the scouting community as they are a very cool bunch of people. They are the unsung heroes when it comes to team building and finding all the pieces it takes to make things work.

It isn't all Bronco talk. We have done segments of "Around the AFC West." We did a segment on breaking down the draft of every other team in the AFC and our thoughts on it.

The show isn't live. So unless we have somebody scheduled to call in beforehand it won't happen. WE have had guest speakers on in the past though and plan on getting more and more as we grow. Just had a new sponsor sign up with us for a 12-week trial and see how things go so more money coming in and viewership should mean more people wanting to come on the show with us.

It's actually on IHeartRadio. We also posts our episodes on Itunes, Stritcher, and a few other places.

Here is our recent breakdown of the AFC West draft picks. If you just want to listen to our thoughts on the Raiders draft it starts about 29 minutes in.

That was a pretty good breakdown of our draft! Some sneaky cheapshots at the RAIDERS here and there, but overall well done! Now of course i don't agree with some of those takes, but ya know that's how i roll..
Good job.
Oh, now i see where the name cdumler7 comes from.

Yeah not much in the area of creativity when it comes to screen name. Honestly it was from ESPN where that is what they recommended mine to be and I just didn't care to disagree.

And have to expect Bronco fans to take a few shots at the Raiders. I would be worried if we didn't. It was a pretty decent draft for them. Like we said on the podcast some boom or bust kind of guys but they are in a position where they can take some risks and see if they help get them over the top.

No creativity went into my SN. Basic City!!

And i would have been disappointed without a few cheapshots here and there. It was a good show on the RAIDERS part.. Fair. The owner of the BLOG i blog at has similar type gig going, and whenever they talk AFCW ball they are fair as well.. Oh im sure there's a few cheapshots in there as well. It's all part of the game..

And as for boom or bust players? I think all players entering a draft are boom or bust. There's no such thing as a certain type of player being boom or bust, but all players are boom or bust. It's all a gamble dude with every player, imo

When are you guys doing a who wins the AFCW segment??
