Man that looked bad, not a good way to start the season. Sure looked like a broken ankle.

Opens up a spot for a RHD...oh wait we don't have any good ones anymore. How beneficial would a Roy have been here?

One of the best open ice hits I've seen in some time. As a defender myself he played that to a T, nice clean body check.

Maybe DD8 getting hurt is a blessing in disguise? The team just got worse, they do t make the playoffs and Blowby is gone.
On the other hand he might use this as an excuse.

No, LTIR doesn't work like that. You only get some space available after cap stuff, not going to help them at all.

Basically you take his cap hit and subtract available cap space and that's the amount you can exceed the cap while he's on LTIR. Since Cap Friendly went out I'm not sure what their available cap space is but I know the Kings were pushing the upper limit so they wouldn't get that much cap relief to acquire a replacement.

Typical Blake move and why it will hurt the team. Can't even get a decent replacement level player because of cap mismanagement.

Worst possible scenario. He won't be up to speed until April when the season is over, playoffs or not and I'm not expecting them to qualify.

You know what, you're 100% correct. Good lord what was I thinking.

They definitely could make a move and absorb the salary but like you said they'd need to make roster moves to remain compliant once Doughty returns. The issue is there isn't anyone left on the free agent market that would make an impact (read as $5-6 million player), they would need to make a trade which further depletes assets.

Kmowing the Kings are in a bind losing their top defender Bowlby would be negotiating from a position of weakness, not like it was a strong suit for him anyway. He would get extra fleeced on any significant move.

Basically the Kings are stuck with what they're rolling. Kings Ducks on right now on KCOP 13, going to catch the first period before heading to Ms. Puck IIs high school women's flag game. Kings icing a large lineup tonight, should be some fireworks.

Watched a little on that channel as well. Picture was clearer than last season fo me also no CGI ads on either stream ( boards were not changed follfor tv and no ads on the glass or extra ads on the ice. Just preseason o am sure.

Dubois is on his fourth NHL team entering his eighth season. The Los Angeles Kings gave up a lot to trade for him last season and he dropped from 63 points to 40. He was dealt to Washington after one season in L.A. Dubois, a former No. 3 overall pick, needs a strong bounce-back season.
(Blowby really screwed the pooch on this one.)

Los Angeles Kings defense​

The Kings were already going through changes on defense because Matt Roy left via free agency. But then Drew Doughty broke his ankle in a preseason game. He needs surgery and is month-to-month. It will be tough making up his nearly 26 minutes a night. Youngster Brandt Clarke is expected to get more responsibility.
(At the moment that Blowby found out that DD8 is out, that is the exact moment that he realized that it’s over for him.) (Probably not, it’s all wishful thinking on my part.)
