Sigh, had to lose a series eventually but that's one we should have locked up.
Yep....silver lining though, no ground was lost as all the other teams in the NL east lost today too....but yeah.

The Mets also did give it a valiant comeback effort in the 9th....so there's that too.

Mets drop the finale...and lose their 1st series of the season. They are now 9-1-1.

Up Next...

Mets RHP Trevor Williams (0-2, 5.73) is likely to start Monday night's series opener against St. Louis and RHP Mike Mikolas (3-1), whose 1.49 ERA was third in the majors entering Sunday.

Mets lead it 1-0 mid 3rd, but they should/could/would be up by more if some of them had more patience in their AB's.
They had the bases loaded in the 2nd with no outs....but only got 1 run home on a groundout......then it took just 1 pitch to get the 2nd out...and only 2 pitches later the Cards got out of it.

Travis Williams (to his credit) got the shutdown inning for NY in the top of the 3rd.

But I digress....

LGM!

Hahaha...maybe there's a method to their "madness".
Mets put up 2 runs in the 3rd.
Lindor reached on an E-6, McNeil doubled him home....then took 3rd on Pete's fly ball out.
Dom doubled home the Squirrel.

:clap::clap:

3-0 Mets....heading to the 4th.

Trevor Williams tossed another shutdown frame in the 4th.
He's now at 64 pitches, but might be on a 75-85 pitch count.
Hopefully he can get through at least 1 more unscathed inning.

Mets went down 1-2-3 in their half...and lead it 3-0 heading to the 5th.

Oh well...so much for that.
Jake Reed is now in to start the 5th for the Mets.

Was a damn good, although short outing by Williams.

Edit:
Reed is having trouble finding the strike zone.....
He walked the leadoff hitter...then after 1 out, walked another.
Now he's got to face Goldie with 2 on.
Took him 9 pitches , but he finally K'd Goldie.
Now he's gotta get Arenado.

Yes!
Reed got Arenado on a fly ball out to McNeil.
Only took him 31 pitches to navigate through that inning...lol.

Whew....

*3-0 Mets ...mid 5th

LGM!
*typo fixed.

Wow....Reed breezed through the 6th inning...and it only took him 8 pitches?
Good for him...and us.

3-0 Mets mid 6th.

edit:
Nothing doing for the Mets in the bottom half.

A bit disappointed there in the 8th.....after Escobar singles with 2 outs....Buck pulled Guillorme for Canha to PH.
Cards then went to their pen for a righty....but Canha went after the 1st pitch...and grounded out.

Onto the 9th...3-1 Mets.
Sugar time.
