I figure I may as well start the October thread now to include the last game of Sept and to keep this NY/Atl series together...and then after the Nats series to end the reg season, I'll put the postseason games & stuff in here too.

Uncle Steve from yesterday...

Alvarez will wear number 50 tonight. And why not....He already has a Benny Agbayani look about him. LOL

Francisco Alvarez is currently the youngest player in the majors, and the only player in the majors who was born after 9/11/01. (Nov 19, 2001)

Mike Piazza played his final game on this day 15 years ago, and now 15 years later, the best catching prospect in years is debuting.
Coincidence? More like fate.

Met drop the opener 5-2.
Teams back in a tie (98-59).
Jake & the offense looked lost.
Pete hitting in the 2 hole is dumb.
Megill is not ready for the next step.
Alvarez went 0-4 w/ 6 LOB in his debut.

Up Next...

Max Scherzer
(11-4, 2.13 ERA) vs Kyle Wright (20-5, 3.18 ERA)

The Mets will send Scherzer to the mound for Saturday’s contest against the Braves. Scherzer has been an anchor in the Mets rotation in the month of September and has pitched to an ERA of 1.06 in three starts.

Atlanta will counter the Mets on Saturday with Kyle Wright. The Braves right-hander leads all of MLB with 20 wins on the season but has struggled in September. Wright holds a 5.66 ERA in the month and opposing batters have tagged him for a .756 OPS.

Saturday’s game will begin at 7: 20 p.m. Fans can catch the action on FOX and WCBS 880.

Very frustrating.
Zero urgency displayed.
Does Max have blisters now too?
Pete in the 2 hole is still a dumbass move by Buck.

Marte with only one good hand would be a better option at DH than Vogelbach.
If the Mets find a way to win tomorrow they'll be back in a tie for 1st, and take the season series 10-9 to win the tiebreaker if they end up with the same records. But that may not mean much should they wind up as a wild card team....so maybe their apparent complacency has become a form of contentment...which would be a pretty damn awful thing if that's how it plays out.
Be that as it may..that'll still be a helluva lot better than not making the postseason at all.
So yes...in any event, I'm self placating preemptively...lol
