Givens is a problem. He shouldn't be anywhere near the mound come playoff time (unless we're already getting crushed).

These old timer's day festivities have been awesome.
I have lots of fond memories watching those players over the years.
Props to Steve Cohen and the Mets FO for doing this. The fans love it.

LGM! YGB!

Brett Baty is still on the roster, SNY just announced. I hope he sticks around, I really like this kid. Needs a haircut though, LOL. :D

The Mets moved 3 games ahead of 2nd place Atlanta in the NL East when the Braves lost 6-5 in St. Louis.
New York (82-46) holds the second-best record in the NL & the majors...(the Dodgers are 87-38).
The Mets are now 36 games over .500 for the first time since finishing 100-60 in 1988.

The Wrap & Recap....

The Box....

The Vids....

Trainer's Room....
Mets RHP Carlos Carrasco (left oblique) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday.

Up Next....
Mets ace Max Scherzer (9-3, 2.33 ERA) pitches Sunday as New York tries for a four-game sweep. He is one win shy of becoming the third active pitcher with 200. RHP Germán Márquez (6-10, 5.22) starts for Colorado.

Brett back in the starting lineup today, just announced on WPIX.
Not a lot of deviation in the lineup for the past few weeks. Marte finally gets a day off, but Nimmo, Alonso, Lindor, McNeil, and Canha have played nearly every day this month

This ended up being a bummer, let down & total disappointment after such an awesome day on Saturday and otherwise nice weekend.
Max still searching for that 200th win...which should've been his today.
Only thing I'll add is Go Cardinals for later tonight.

I'll take 3-1, but what a dismal offensive showing this afternoon
Yeah..and what's worse is now they have to do a 180º and get ready for Los Doyers.
I actually thought Buck would've gone with Walker today, and saved Max to face LA on Tuesday instead.
Me and my silly hindsight....but what do I know.....LOL.
Might not helped anyhow.

Gotta hope, wish & pray the bats wake up for that series.
To say that will be a very important and crucial series would be a drastic understatement,

Mets embarrassingly drop the finale 1-0
Max held up his end of the deal...but the offense...not at all.

Thankfully St. Louis beat Atlanta 6-3 earlier this evening, so the Mets lead in the NL east is still 3 games.

Trainer's Room....

Mets RHP Carlos Carrasco (left oblique) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Monday and could return next weekend.
RHP Drew Smith (right lat) threw a 15-pitch bullpen.
Buck Showalter said Smith and RHP Tylor Megill (right shoulder) are progressing quickly.

Up Next....

The Mets will host a showdown with the Los Angeles Dodgers. New York has an off-day on Monday before the three-game set begins on Tuesday. The Mets’ projected starter for game one is RHP Taijuan Walker (10-3, 3.37 ERA). The Dodgers have not announced a projected starter, but LHP Andrew Heaney ( 2-1, 1.95 ERA) is a likely.

Gotta Do Better.

Mets drop the opener 4-3. Frustrating AF.

They had plenty of good chances but could just never get over that hump.
Also, a bases loaded HBP by Walker opened the door in the 3rd and led to 3 runs for LA.
The loss was softened a bit though after Atlanta lost their game with Colorado 3-2.

Up Next...

The Mets will play game two of three against the Dodgers on Wednesday evening with a chance to bounce back and even the series.
NY RHP Jacob deGrom (3-1, 2.15 ERA), faces off against LA LHP Tyler Anderson (13-2, 2.69 ERA)
