Did not have the come from behind magic today, it was a rough one. Hopefully put it behind them, on to the next series.

Mets were in 4-0 hole in the 1st....but have since started to climb back with 2 in the 2nd...and Pete's solo shot in the 3rd.
Then the Fish scored 1 more in the 3rd.
Megill went 5 on 95 pitches.....Loup went 1 in relief.

It's now the top of the 7th.

Mets down 5-3.

edit:

Also...Nimmo was scratched from the original lineup before the game started....so Pillar was moved from RF to CF, and from batting 8th to hitting leadoff. Drury was added and put into the 8th spot and is playing RF.

Nimmo just got a PH AB for Loup...but he grounded out.
Mets didn't do diddley in the 7th.

5-3 Fish.

Stretch time in Dade County.
Familia now on the hill for NY.

And he throws a 1-2-3 inning.

Onto the 8th...

LFGM!

10 pitches later he gave up a triple and a walk.
Then 4 pitches after that...a run scored on a Baez E-6.
6-3 still no outs...
Now an IBB to load the bases...

Oh Boy.
What can possibly go wrong??

Amazingly....May got the next 3 outs w/o allowing another run.

Onto the 9th.
Last Chance.

Also looks like Philly will gain a full game on us tonight...
It's gonna be down to a 2.5 game lead for us. Braves are off tonight but also gained a half game.

Edit:
Final 6-3 Fish.

Not looking too good right now as we head into the dog days of Summer.

Mets drop the opener 6-3....and are now 8-10 since the All-Star break.

The Lowdown...

A quote from Pete....and I hope he's right about that last sentence...

"Yes, we're in first place but every team goes through their ups and down during the year," Alonso said.
"I think for us right now, it's just a little rut.. "I don't think it's any long-term concern."

Up Next....

Mets RHP Taijuan Walker (7-5, 3.71 ERA) will start game 2 of the series on Tuesday.
The Marlins have not yet announced a starter.

Need things to start clicking. The bad guys are breathing down our necks and we're running out of runway. Time to start stringing together some series wins.

Yikes.

When was the last time Tai walker had a solid outing?
Dude was a nice surprise during the 1st 3 months of the season and had numerous great starts.....
.......then the AS break hit..(which he was chosen to be in).

He's been a huge disappointment and has looked like crap since.

This nonsense we've been getting from the mound, and at the plate by the offense what seems like day after day lately is really getting old.

It's another 4-0 early hole for the Mets tonight after 3.

:L

Walker tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the 4th. His 1st of the game.
He's now at 72 pitches.

edit:
Dude also forgot how to bunt...but at least it was with only 1 out this time, unlike his last outing when he was bunting with 2 outs (in 2 separate AB's)

Mets put up 2 in the 6th..trimming the deficit to just 1 run.
Rbi sac fly by Dom (he also had an rbi sac fly in the 4th)....and a 2 out rbi double from JD Davis.

4-3 Miami...mid 6th.
Walker is back on the mound...almost at 90 pitches.

edit:
Loup takes over here w/ 2 outs & 1 on.

Just 2 pitches by Loup does the trick. Ground ball out.

On to the 7th.

LGM!

Apparently Pete has somewhere better to be.
1st pitch swinging. Fly ball out.

:rolleyes2:

1 down.

McNeil K'd....and maybe Baez wants to join Pete...as he too went 1st pitch swinging and flied out.
Mets go 1-2-3 in the 8th.

:tsk:

Lugo had 1 good inning in him...but it was the 7th...not the 8th.
Fish put up another run to make it a 5-3 game heading to the 9th.
What happened to May or Diaz, Rojas??
More clusterfuckery from this guy.

1 out...runner on 1st.
Would really love to see Conforto come through here..

Oh well..so much for that...2 outs.

Down to McCann....

McCann doubles in a run..it's 5-4

Drury is in to PH.
Almora is pinch running for McCann.

Meh...and that's all folks.
Drury grounded out

Mets lose again.
Final...5-4.
