I don't hate him. It's the fan boys who want to say he was perfect that gets on my nerves.
I’ll give you my starting top 5.
PG Stockton
sG. Jordan
Sf. Pippen
PF. Duncan
C. Shaq
Good luck
Happily take my chances with...
Magic
Kobe
Lebron
Malone
Kareem
You sure you wanna pick Malone? He only played one year for the Lakers and averaged 13.2 ppg & 8.7 rebs.
If I'm wrong about this my bad. Picking Malone don't you gotta go with his numbers in Los Angeles only and not his career numbers?
I'd get ride of the Mailman & replace him with Mark Madsen...I mean AD.
Even going with All Time Malone it feels like the outlier on the team. Malone will compound the one thing everyone else on the team already does, scoring, while not really adding much to anything else. KG to add elite help defense when Kareem is already locking down the paint or Dirk to stretch the floor where elite shooters are lacking both make that group way better than Malone.Wasn't trying to do all Lakers, the players in the post I responded to weren't all from the same team. The Lakers have just had a lot of great players over the years.
The 5 I picked has 3 players in the GOAT convo, the 2nd greatest 2 guard of all time and a guy in the convo for greatest PF of all-time. Just a coincidence that they were all Lakers at some point in their careers. lol

I don't like Malone so I am for sure biased on it. Now you no my super important take on team fit for dream starting 5 discussion.
Malone was a good defender as well. But yeah, my group doesn't really stretch the floor as much as it would if I took Dirk over Malone. Kobe and Lebron could some...but they were always more about getting to the basket or hitting the midrange shot.
Malone was a good defender in his era that was all about defending the paint.
I don’t think he would be a plus defender today.
Not a bad one either mind you, but a guy like KG would translate better.
An elbow in the face from Karl would hurt just as much now as it did then.
