I agree but to me, it’s bs, he criticizes them now. If reports are legitimately true about the issues with their RSN, it’s not like the Mariners can punish Mike Salk or any of their people since they are the flagship station and what are Mariners going to do, intentionally lose ESPN money because they talked bad. Jerry got a dude basically fired, but you have a lot less stroke when you are desperate for money.

But what sense does that make in a baseball sense? You get one year of the hitter and not the pitcher. That would be for the gate only. Cash in for a year and he leaves as fast as he can afterwords if he were to do it which doesn't make sense that he would.

No idea if it is even true, but I’ve heard from a few different online sources.

A. If it is true it is a goodwill contract because it would be dumb paying him to be a pitcher and hitter for one season when you know he can’t pitch and he can walk after one year.

B. That better not be the only upgrade they make.

C. Ownership would completely redeem themselves if it is true but the contract would be exempt from the payroll restrictions they gave Jerry.

“We really want to change the way our offense works,” Jerry Dipoto said this week. To that end, the Mariners have created a new position — offensive coordinator — and hired veteran hitting coach Brant Brown to fill it.

M's also hired a new assistant hitting coach, Tommy Joseph, to partner with Brown and incumbent hitting coach Jarret DeHart.

So these guys are going to turn Urias .194 to .275 or better? Very doubtful. Now maybe they can help out Cal and JRod cut down on the K's which would be great but 1yr too late.

You get to say you made an offer .. You are supposed to believe that Ohtani would seriously consider that stupid thing . Then they can say they tried to make the team better .
