Jerry Dipoto's resignation, now official, was inevitable. When you're a GM without authority to run a team as you see fit, what's the point?

This is something I don’t get. In LA it was the exact opposite situation. The manager hated and had no respect for him and the owner wanted to spend too much money. So not sure why he wouldn’t resign if this whole thing is ownerships fault (not saying it isn’t) but Jerry has to realize he looks like a fool basically for everything he has said or done since the trade deadline.

“We really want to change the way our offense works,” Jerry Dipoto said this week. To that end, the Mariners have created a new position — offensive coordinator — and hired veteran hitting coach Brant Brown to fill it.

M's also hired a new assistant hitting coach, Tommy Joseph, to partner with Brown and incumbent hitting coach Jarret DeHart.

I don't know what's more surprising. That Lou Pinella was only ejected 28 times in his 10 years managing the Mariners, or that Servais has been ejected 22 times in 8 years. Servais has actually been tossed at a higher rate than Sweet Lou, every 54.3 games compared to 55.4 for Lou
