Yeah I’ve never understood the cash or the PTBNL. Trading for cash just sounds gross just selling a dude, and what is the point of trading for a guy you don’t receive instantly

PTBNL used to (usually) mean that the player (or player pool) that they want in the trade isn't technically eligible to be traded, yet. Trade gets completed (and announced) once they are eligible.

I think the rules have changed, but it used to be that an amateur draft pick couldn't be traded until something like a full year after either the draft or when he signed his contract. There are probably still similar rules in place.

Santos isn’t dealing with elbow issues. He felt some soreness in the lat/teres major area after throwing a bullpen here in Peoria. Mariners decided to dial it back and slowplay him to spring.
