Yeah I’ve never understood the cash or the PTBNL. Trading for cash just sounds gross just selling a dude, and what is the point of trading for a guy you don’t receive instantly

The cash would make sense if matching up contracts but this money probably goes in the owners pockets. Maybe the PTBNL is a block of 5 guys they'll scout and eventually pick one? Not sure how it works.

Yes and there is a huge list of players that I feel aren't taking their fair share of the blame. I thought it was foul that kelenic talked about Dipoto when his first two seasons in the majors he played like garbage and in his 3rd season when he finally was looking pretty good he decides to kick a cooler and break his foot forcing us to look for an OF at the trade deadline.

At least you are fair then.

Kelenic literally said nothing wrong though. He may not have been ready but he was singled out by Jerry’s boss saying he had no shot at being called up which was illegal by the CBA. Covid set him back and will blossom into the star he can be in Atlanta.

Yeah but just trading a dude for cash is another team just buying them. To me it just sounds gross than the DL being turned into the IL. No idea on how it technically works but John Halama personally told me he was told he was the PTBNL in the Randy deal.

It is just nitpicking but those two are IMO dumb. Make trades for players without cash involved and instead of PTBNL later make them trade draft picks. Make trades like the NBA and make the draft like the NFL. Those two leagues have stolen enough from MLB, time to steal back instead of changing the game to entice those fans to watch baseball.

I thought what had happened when he was in the minors was that the team offered him a multi year extension and he declined it and the team kept him in the minors? Which was an issue because if he would have signed it they would have called him up but since he didn't sign management manipulated his service time.

either way the Mariners eventually called him up and gave him 872 ABs he struck out 300x and batted .204. If he blossoms in Atlanta it does help that he will be batting in the bottom of that stacked lineup with no pressure as opposed to being the guy here.

I agree. MLB needs an overhaul.
