Postscript on Mariners-Twins trade:I'm told Seattle inquired about Max Kepler's availability and the potential of a larger deal, but that aspect of the talks never gained traction.

Would’ve been nice. They need another COF and then I think fans could be not happy but ok with going into the season. Definitely have serious questions about the lineup outside of JP, Julio and Cal. And am really disappointed they aren’t going after Snell who is begging to become a Mariner. The 2-6 pitchers threw the most pitches in their career last year and they just traded their insurance policy.

Pitching overall scares me. Limited innings coming forward, Castillo taking a step back, and bullpen has been shaky and depleted.

With the bullpen, it’s like I can’t disregard their history of turning garbage players into studs. But on the same note, Munoz has gotten hurt basically every year and he and Brash both have pitched so much. On paper, who is the next guy Berroa? A guy they had zero confidence in to play in September. It’s kind of the same reservations I have with Rojas and Canzone. If they would rather have Cabby and Haggerty take AB’s from them in crucial games just because a lefty is on the mound then I don’t have confidence in them either.

They’re banking on him being able to stay healthy and put up 2019 numbers again. HUGE ask for something that was 5 seasons ago and he’s yet to prove he can stay healthy. Moore back at 2B by All-Star break.

Just getting caught up on this trade. It's his contract year, and he gets $10.5 mill this year from what I can see, and has to perform well for us to keep him for $12+ mill (depending on how well he does) or an even bigger multi-year contract. So there's plenty of incentive for him to do well. But yeah, he hasn't played a full season since '21.

Pretty big gamble given what we gave up. Jerry's a loser so it's 99% likely this will be yet another example of a better GM owning him in a trade.
