Mariners 2023 - 2024 offseason thread

Just getting caught up on this trade. It's his contract year, and he gets $10.5 mill this year from what I can see, and has to perform well for us to keep him for $12+ mill (depending on how well he does) or an even bigger multi-year contract. So there's plenty of incentive for him to do well. But yeah, he hasn't played a full season since '21.

Pretty big gamble given what we gave up. Jerry's a loser so it's 99% likely this will be yet another example of a better GM owning him in a trade.

The more I think about it is the irony of this off-season is the staff’s philosophy has been to not have a full time DH until this year when the roster is full of guys who could use DH days to stay healthy.

I think have on one hand raised the floor of the team if healthy. Potential wise I don’t think they are better. But they are more rounded and shouldn’t have months of slumps
