If that is just the price then sure. But if that trade were to go down the Mariners still need to make other massive moves. IMO it upgrades the staff but is a net negative for the offense that is already losing Teo.Would You:
Bieber
Naylor, Josh
Clase
For
France
Brash
Kelenic
Bieber has 1 year left on his contract. His K rate is half of what it was his Cy Young Year
Naylor has two years left. .308 AVG, 68 K's in 495 PA's.
Clase signed through 2026 with Team Options for 2027 & 2028. His ERA was over twice of 2022's.
A good choice of organizational chart and roles of responsibility leads to good planning and results.Amazing what having a competent FO and a manager can do for you. The Rangers won 68 games last year, went out, got Seager and Bochy. now they’re 2 games away from an AL pennant.
I honestly don't see the offense as a negative. France is below average at everything. Kelenic is average at everything. Naylor makes contact and hits .300. I think he and whomever plays the outfield for Kelenic will be better than Kelenic and France. Then you have Bieber fora year. Even if his stuff has declined some, he would be a great addition to the staff. If that is just the price then sure. IMO that is a great trade in terms of they can trade Bieber at a later time. Would you want them to deal Woo and Miller for just a year of Bieber?
I knew we were screwed when they sign Bochy. I have always been a huge believer that you can tell the intent of a franchise by who they sign to run it. If they sign a new guy, they want to keep control and winning is secondary. If you sign a legend, you are here to win. Good for them. I am jealous.Amazing what having a competent FO and a manager can do for you. The Rangers won 68 games last year, went out, got Seager and Bochy. now they’re 2 games away from an AL pennant.
He was available at the end of 2019 until 2022. You can’t tell me the M’s can’t convince him out of retirement but the Rangers can? The M’s were in fact closer to winning than the Rangers prior to the Seager signing. Bochy would likely get them over that hump.I knew we were screwed when they sign Bochy. I’m just meaning in terms of they would have to subtract Kelenic. Isn’t a deal breaker or anything but they already have to figure out to replace Teo and then trying to replace another started, IMO, would be risky. They already have holes at 2B and 3B that they refuse to admit.I honestly don't see the offense as a negative. France is below average at everything. Kelenic is average at everything. Funny because originally I looked at a one for one with Woo or Miller for Bieber. I don't think I would do that. If you trade one of these two, it needs to be for a bat. We can realistically sign a pitcher. Maybe Snell if he wants to come home. I heard he owns part of that pizza franchise that just went into T-Mobile this year. Maybe he misses it...lol.
