I have to agree with Randle. I believe if the Seahawks sign Allen he will likely see as much playing time as any other defensive linemen on the team. He probably won't see the same amount of snaps that he saw with the Vikings, but I believe he would still be an every down player.

Definately ESPN dropped the ball on this one. They kept changing the headline on their page throughout the afternoon.

A few media outlets were forced to do the same thing. It went from "The Seattle Seahawks are finalizing a deal with free agent defensive end Jared Allen" to "Free agent Jared Allen leaves Seattle without a contract; his agent saying to expect a decision on multiple offers this weekend" in a matter of hours. It'll be interesting to find out what happened.

Because he won't play for the going rate?
If that were true, he would have singed with the Raiders or Cowboys.
My guess, he'd sign for 7 or 8 mil, to a contender.
If it happens to be the Seahawks, they should be happy to get him. With the D-Backs they have, he could break the sack record next season. They'll definitely give him the time to get to the QB.

Because he's made it astoundingly clear for multiple years that even a little less money to go to a contender was not an option.

You don't know either have made him a remotely acceptable offer.

I would assume he would essentially fill the spot that vacated by Clemons who played both in run and passing situations.

Allen would make your line that much scarier. I love this guy, he seems to have fun out there when he is playing. I also love his stupid celebration. Been following him since his KC days. If he signs I'll be buying another Jared Allen jersey.

I have this feeling by Sunday evening we'll know for sure if Jared Allen is a seahawk or if he moves on.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were in talks with him.

He's 30 and rich. He doesn't need a ring bad enough to play for cheaper than he's worth, I'm sure.
But, I'll wait for you to let me know what he's thinking.

I just read that Allen apparently wanted 12 millions a year as his starting asking price… That's when he first started negotiating free agency, not necessarily what he wanted when he visited Seattle..

I don't know what we offered him, but I hope we don't over pay. Allen made two trips though and the second was with his wife to show her around Seattle. Sounds promising.

It did right up to, he needed to mull it over! I think it is safe to say that the offer the Seahawks made was a lot less then what he was hoping to make. Hope he signs, but if not, I glad the Seahawks stuck to their budget.
They'll be OK without him.

John can be flippant with a Seahawks fan on her, but a Seahawks fan cannot.

Interesting.

Have fun deleting.

I like how JohnRandle makes a point of stating that the other poster does not know what Allen is thinking and therefore shouldn't speculate ("Sorry, I didn't realize you were in talks with him." and "But, I'll wait for you to let me know what he is thinking.")
But in the middle of that he tells us exactly how Allen is negotiating and what he is thinking!
Hypocrite much?

JDM is a Pats fan. He's wearing a Seahawk avatar because he lost a wager.

Hmmmmm… Very curious to see what happens with Allen… Hopefully we know by the end of the day.. I think Allen is crazy if he passes up the opportunity to play for such a good young defense… Money aside he's gonna have a helluva fun year if he signs… When the lights shut down in life it's the experiences that matter not the money in your bank account… Even if he just comes here for 1 year I highly doubt he's gonna regret it…

Publicly. Very publicly. He has stated time and time again that his only consideration is cash.

IMO pretty much anything said to me is fair game.

Also :finger: for calling me a hawks fan.
