The idea that's a legit description of what's going on in pass protection is pretty questionable even if you believe some backups + Fisher/Reiter is a borderline top 5 pass O-line. Severely overrating some backups/street FA's. Isn't this also the same metric/system that is implying Aaron Donald is a bad run defender too?

KC has two good pass protecting lineman, max, right now. Either Andy Reid is OL Jesus or Mahomes manages pressure better than most QB's; drifting aside.

I mean no disrespect to Mahomes and his pocket present, he's definitely one of the best in the pocket

Houston doesn’t have to trade Watson. They are going to have to be blown away to do it.

A CB like Jalen Ramsey was worth 2 1sts and OBJ was worth a 1st+. Watson is worth 10 fold that. He is a franchise QB that is 25 under contract for like 6 years.

People sound silly saying a team should give up 1 or 2 first rounders for Watson. No shit. He is worth WAY more than that. And it will take way more than that to get the Houston to even listen.

Fair enough and honestly I am not the one to talk up Watson and talk down Mahomes bc when it comes to AFC QB’s Mahomes is the best and isn’t close, as of right now.

Yeah I didnt mean they would get that much.....but he is worth 10 times the value of a Jalen Ramsey or OBJ (maybe not Jalen). They wont get 10 times that in a trade.

But talking about teams like the Pat's or SF is just silly. Neither team has the draft assets to pull off a trade without also giving up so much that it doesn't make sense for them to do it because they wouldnt be able to field a team around Watson.

The only teams that are an option are the Jet's and the Dophins. They are the only 2 teams with the type of draft assets to get this done. To get this done Houston would need to believe Tau + a bunch of 1st rounders is worth it to move on. Or from the Jet's, they would have to believe Fields with the 2nd overall pick + a bunch of other picks is worth it.

When thinking of this trade, think of it this way. This is EASILY the most talented player that would be traded in the last 2 decades of football. He is a 25 year old franchise QB who would be playing under a decent contract (relatively speaking of course) for a long time moving forward. Nothing that we have seen traded in the last 20 years comes even close to the type of talent at the most important position in football that we are talking about here.

So when you refer to who could trade for him and what they would have to give up, you just cant throw out a couple of draft picks no matter how good they are.

We are talking about a Hershal Walker type of offer if this is going to happen. So saying that SF should trade a 1st and maybe a 2nd along with Jimmy is just silly talk. No chance that offer wouldn't get clobbered by another team. And no chance Houston would take it even if it was the best offer because there is zero chance they would have a shot at being a better team moving forward.

You realize NE once again has double digit picks coming up this year? They still have their #1 in 2022 as well. Not sure why you feel they don't have the draft capital?

Having said that the likelihood of BB pulling off a trade like that ranks right up there with Cam Newton being next years MVP.

Could it make a difference? Sure but the Ravens built the perfect scheme around Lamar with nice running backs, blocking TE’s and a great OL and Mark Andrews. A star WR really doesn’t fit this offense and Lamar is an average thrower when he doew throw which isn’t often. If he didn’t have half his running skills he wouldn’t be a starting QB. The Ravens did everything right for him. Marquise Brown ain’t bad either, he’s fast as shit

You need to quit thinking of it from the 49er's perspective and think of it from Houston's perspective. There is no chance from Houston's perspective that they would even start calling the 49ers with their picks if they have the Jets and Dolphins interested (and why would either of those teams not be interested). But we can disagree if you want.

As far as Watson playing hardball. The NFL changed the rules this last season on holdouts. He isn't missing games and he isn't missing more than 4 days of camp. It costs him SO MUCH money if he does.

Some of the big new rules are fines and accrued season in the new CBA for holdouts. Holdouts are fined 40K a day and it is no longer waivable like it always was in the past. And that is only for the first 10 days of a holdout. After that there is a clause that says the fine goes up significantly but it doesn't spell out what significantly is. But it probably has to do with a percentage of your base pay (and all Watson's pay is base pay).

Heck I kind of want someone to hold out so that we can understand what significantly means moving forward.

And if he misses more than 4 days of camp, he automatically loses an accrued season. When he retires and his benefits are figured out, it will be like he never even played football in 2021. Even if he plays in all 16 games.

And him holding out would also allow Houston to void all guarantees in his deal while still keeping him under contract. And all his money is ties to future guarantees. And knowing NFL players, he probably has a loan out that promised against those guarantees.

Him holding out just isn't an option. He can be a pain in the ass in the media, he can be a pain in the ass in the locker room, but he isn't sitting out. And he isn't going to go out and play half ass because that would piss off his teammates.

Yeah, unlike the NBA, the NFL saw that this was going to become a larger problem moving forward than it has been in the past and negotiated in some pretty strong leverage into the CBA.

Players play.
Coaches coach.
GM's select players.
Owners own.

Everyone keeping in their own lane is what is best for the league as a whole. You wont see a NFL player whine his way out of a city like Harden just did in Houston for a long, long time.

To be fair, when you have the Kobe on the NFL at QB in terms of usage and importance, the #11th ranked offensive line and 14th best red zone offense does seem somewhat lackluster.

I made a note last year that I thought Hopkins was the key component on the Texans and his rapport with Watson was a big reason for their success. Hopkins = Kelce in that regard. I thought Hopkins was pretty much untradable. I'm sure the Texans oline is a big factor and their defense is the main factor for their issues but losing that connection probably cost the Texans a couple of games, too.

Which I have.....You 'think' DW will not hold out, but we've seen in a player like LeVeon Bell get his way....and that was simply a monetary issue. If Watson is so disgruntled with the Texans on issues he feels are far more important, I can easily see a holdout for a substantial length of time. If Watson's claims are in fact true, then Houston is in a bad position....and not just in the immediate future...but the long term as well.

If the stories are true, and the Texans promised DW's input into the process, and failed to do so, then it was the team that forced the players hand in the first place. This isn't a money/contract issue....this is beyond that, according to the player.
