"1st round picks? We don't need no stinking 1st round picks." LA Rams

The last time the Rams used a pick in the first round it was Goff, the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. Here’s what the Rams’ first-round picks have been since then:

2017: Rams traded this first-round pick as part of the package to move up and draft Goff in 2016.

2018: Rams traded this first-round pick to acquire receiver Brandin Cooks from New England.

2019: Rams traded this first-round pick to move down and acquire second- and third-round picks from Atlanta.

2020: Rams traded this first-round pick for Jalen Ramsey.

2021: Rams traded this first-round pick for Jalen Ramsey.

2022: Rams traded this first-round pick for Matthew Stafford.

2023: Rams traded this first-round pick for Matthew Stafford.

So the Rams can draft in the first round again in 2024. Maybe

I have no idea how Snead still has a job. Contract extension of Gurley wasn't great but contract to Goff should get you fired.

Personally, I think unless you are drafting top 5 or so, day 1 picks in the NFL are mostly irrelevant. I know that's an unpopular opinion but the list of day 1 players after those first few that are average and more often than not, less productive than the 2nd, 3rd and 4th rounders is a very long one.

I think the Texans refuse to trade Watson and he doesn't go anywhere until very late, maybe not even this season. I suspect this becomes a very ugly and protracted holdout where he is fined millions but never reports.

I don't think they can trade him until after June 1st. Pre that he's a 21.6M cap hit and a NEGITIVE 5.6M cap savings.

  • The Athletic's Joseph Person reports NFL insiders believe "the Texans will want three first-round picks, or two first-rounders and an established player" in exchange for Deshaun Watson.

The astronomical price for Watson makes sense after the Rams had to part with a 2021 third-round pick, a 2022 first-round pick, a 2023 first-round pick to acquire Matthew Stafford from Detroit. If the Texans are willing to hold out for that kind of offer, that could narrow Watson's suitors to two or three teams. Person, who covers the Panthers, was skeptical of the team selling out to get Watson, since doing so would make it tougher to improve the team's offensive line. The Panthers would owe Teddy Bridgewater $23 million if they stay put at QB in the coming months -- an unlikely scenario by all accounts. Watson being dealt to Carolina would make D.J. Moore and Robby Anderson much sought-after players in 2021 fantasy drafts.

It is laughable in the face of Stafford just netting a 1st + that people are still believing the clickbait that suggests Watson is going to go for so little.

It will take a historic haul to pry Watson out of Houston.....or Houston won’t do it.

Houston doesn't have much leverage in this because of the no trade clause and Watson can say fuck you I'm not playing and sit out

How long would he hold out? Not long IMO. Let him sit out because that less costly then trading at a discount.
