Same thing here Ford. My wife wanted no part of a pool when we bought our place in 1997. Now that we have our mortgage in the document drawer at home, all the sudden a pool seems really cool to her.

But - I have an ace in the hole. Her folks have a pool. And every time we go down to Georgetown I make it a point to ask her mom about the pool. And we get to hear about the maintenance and skimming and all the crap that goes with keeping that thing up. Then my wife leaves the room... and my Mother-in-Law and I smile and have another cup of coffee and congratulate each other on slaying that dragon once again.

people tend to make more of it is than the reality is. my pool always looks good and I don't have to spend much time on it. make sure the chemical levels are right, brush and skim it a few times a week and clean the pump filters every other week. I spend more time here than the pool stuff.

I'm very fortunate to have a clear running New England trout stream on my property so nature does all the cleaning. I rake the swimming hole to leave it gravel once each spring but that's it for the summer.

When you have teenagers, a pool is worth it but as an old codger, I want no part of all that~

It should be a mandatory bucket list item to take that drive north from Morro Bay to Monterey up Hwy 1. Pictures dont do it justice. I describe it as the Coastal Range on the right, the Pacific Ocean on the left and a new postcard around every turn.

Word. Having lived all over, I NEVER take where I live for granted. I enjoy that ride up PCH at least once every other week. Those pix you shot are no more than 70 miles either direction from where I live. I truly live in one of the most amazing areas in the country...

I'm getting too damn old to pull maintenance on one and too damn cheap to hire some on to do it. My in-laws are even more so.

I'll pass.

How about a hot tub as a compromise? Easier and cheaper to maintain. Just don't use the heater during summer and very kewl during winters...

As a grandparent of a 19 and a 15 year old, even less reason for me to invest in one. Like Cali said... I could be convinced to lean toward a hot tub. We have a sun room and it would fit nicely there.

Having the exact convo with the wifey now. I'm all in for sun room/ hot tub... Pool not so much although 3 boys 14,11, & 4 she makes a good argument but friends of ours have pools do I'd rather go there and mess up their place anyway.:suds:

Good strategy, unless perhaps you use the kids as the upkeep pool maintenance guys...

My friends love their hot tub alternatives...

Well... wonder what Plan B is?

There is a Plan B... isn't there?

25 years ago... I would completely agree. The rebellious 30-something would have dug the heck out of having options. Nowadays... careening towards 60 - a hot tub would be better if only to soothe the aches and pains after 18 holes.

And - as if there weren't enough reasons not to do the wave at Cowboys games, Chuck Morgan provides a scientific one just up the road at the Ballpark.

I never wanted one after we had one put in when I was growing up. A neighbor had a sprinkler system leak, so when the deep end was installed the ground around it was saturated. When the system got fixed, the entire pool shifted dramatically. The last few years in that house had the return lines replaced TWICE, the pool replastered twice, and it never really worked right. There was about a 2-3" drop from deep to shallow end.

I realize that is a worst case scenario now, but I've made it a point to say if we get a house wtih a pool then we get a pool service to keep at least the chemicals balanced. I know how to do it, meaning I know I don't want to do it. Texas isn't as bad as other places. You can swim from about early May to darn near halloween.

we have talked about it. Our current house has a pad that could support it and a 220 outlet and natty gas line right to the pad. Just don't think I want to deal with that. I want to swim, not just sit and stew :)

Lawrence was fighting for a spot, so there is a plan B. But now there is no early season depth.

Yeah... I know the plan was to rotate eight and keep them fresh. This doesn't help things one bit. Shuffling seven doesn't have the same ring... nor is it going to be very effective.

Play on...

Really hope the offense is ready to score 35+ for the first few games because this D minus Lawrence = absolutely no pressure on opposing QBs.
