My WAG projection for the 26 man:

C - Bales, Murph
IF - LWJ, Wilmer, Tyro, Lucy, JDD, Fitz
OF - Lee, Yaz, Slater, Ramos, Sabol
SP - Spider, Monty, Harry, Hicks, Winn
RP - Camilo, Taylor, Tyler, Jax, Beck, Walker, Miller
DH - Soler

This assumes:
1. We get Monty
2. We trade Forto and Bart
It must be bizarro world because I'm good with this.

And either FZ is doing a little gamesmanship or there won't be any more major league free agents signed before the start of the season (barring some injury to a regular).
Gamesmanship.

You KNOW he's talking to Boras about Snell, Chappy and Monty. Probably not Belli.

Despite all the waiver claims over the years, the Giants are one of only five teams with literally zero players on their 40-man who were waiver claims.45.2% homegrown (8th in MLB)23.8% free agents (12th)31.0% trade (17th)Homegrown number is encouraging (and trending up).

However, just to be fair, they do have players on their 40-man that they acquired via trade for cash while they were designated for assignment, which is pretty much the same level as a waiver claim.

I would classify Yaz, Wade and Estrada as waiver claims, even though they technically weren’t.

Good on FZ for those guys…

Whoa.... just got this in a Giants' email

The Giants have signed IF Pablo Sandoval to a Minor League contract with an invite to Spring Training.

Is this just a honorarium thing or is there an intent on him playing (and maybe being called up)?

The Giants are counting on him to hit 3 home runs in one game once we make the World Series.

Yep, except wouldn’t see him until 2025. Still might have been a good signing
I don't have a problem with that. If the Giants sign Austin Warren in hopes that he makes a mid season return, it would have been worth signing Brandon Woodruff in hopes that he had an early 2025 return. Woodruff had the track record to make such a risk worthwhile.

Warren is making approx 755K per year, on a 2 year pact. While Woodruff’s contract has not yet been announced, do you think he is in the 755K per neighborhood?

I wasn't comparing costs. I was comparing track records. I'm okay with Woodruff getting more. He has the history that commands a larger deal. My point is that Woodruff has done well in the big leagues. Warren is much more sketchy. Both are coming off big surgeries. I'd be okay committing more funds to Woodruff than to Warren.

This was a pitcher that I'd hoped the Giants would sign.

I'm guessing FZ feels he already has enough SP on the IL and didn't want to add another with cash that....

HE NEEDS TO SIGN MONTY!

Warren is a complete, no cost lotto ticket. Woodruff is expected to make over 11M per without even an expectation to take the field in the first year.

Ignoring $$, and assuming the Giants were a team both players wanted to sign with, of course I would take Woodruff over Warren. I don’t think that is really even debatable.

I would rather get Monty than Woodruff. No question there.

I would concur with that as well. My thinking is that the Giants have money, Woodruff has a good history, why not take another guy and stash him on the 60 day? In my opinion, he would be worth it. I still think the Giants could have the money to sign Montgomery and I hope that they do. Snell could possibly be signing with the Yankees so let's sign Montgomery and get on with it!
