Right now (LONG way to go, granted…), I think the Arb players go like this…

They keep all except Young and Wynns.

I think they make legit plays to keep Pedo and Casali as far as our FAs go. They probably offer lip service trying to keep Belt, but I think they move on from him. Boyd and Rosenthal are either way. The book is still open on them.

I think both Rodon and Pederson are gone this offseason. I doubt either will want to return.

Flores and Casali I'm on the fence with keeping. If they stay, I hope its on 1 to 2 year deals.

I get the feeling Longoria retires at the end of the season. He won't be back. If he stays healthy and has a strong 2nd half, then maybe he leans toward a 2023 season and the Giants pick up his option. But that could work out about as well as Crawford and Belt did this year. He's not young.

It will be interesting to see what Boyd and Rosenthal can do the last two months (if either do pitch). Right now, I'm fine with both leaving.

Let Leone walk. He was good last year but merely okay this year. This bullpen needs a makeover and he should be part of the group swept out. Which leads to the last guy . . .

I hope Alvarez is gone in 2023. I don't want him back.

Longo has five million reasons to NOT retire.

Didn't Posey have even more reasons NOT to retire?
It was never reported whether he got his buyout or not.

My sense is that he retired with the option still on the table, so technically, the Giants still own his rights.

My point is that when a player decides to retire, money isn't the only factor that plays into that decision.

Oh, I agree 100%. Especially when these guys have more money than their grandkids will be able to spend.

So who on the current roster really projects to be a piece of this team in 2 years?

Webb
Bart
Doval

Maybe Slater and Yaz? Estrada?

that looks to me like a team that needs help.

SELL!! SELL!! SELL!!

Slater is the most underrated of the last 3 you mentioned. I can see all three of them gone in two years. Even Bart and Doval are just one bad 2023 from being gone. There really is just Webb.

But look at Slater's numbers to see how underrated he is.

Even Webb may have a shine on him because he is surrounded by utter crap.

Slater is a nice player, but he isn’t really a needle mover on his own.

Estrada is a nice piece, but not a guy you plan around. He is great for filling a hole.

I think Bart can be a very nice, solid starting catcher. But he is no Posey, and that his major knock. His timing is horrible.

Doval CAN be elite. But closer should be one of the last slots you fill. Not part of the starting core.

Yaz, Wade, Ruf, Flores, Pedo, etc are all fodder for the churn.

Man I hate to say it but as of right now, and barring any kind of monster win streak, everyone is expendable.
That’s kinda what I am saying. 4 years into FZ’s reign, and we are still at the ”tear it down” level.

107 was arguably the worst thing that could have happened to this org.

Yeah it completely turned everything upside down.

I have no idea if we have a good team, a good manager, a good org.

I still feel like last season, which I loved, was smoke and mirrors.

What puzzles me is, how do you BS into a 107 win season? That is utterly mind blowing.

That’s the thing. I can’t explain it, but it is.

Honestly, that is probably adding to my frustration. I just don’t understand how it happened. It makes zero sense.
