I can’t read it but it might be true
Paywall…Here is another piece to discuss:
Why do some Giants struggle with confidence? It’s part of the system
Industry insiders and scouts say it’s not a surprise that San Francisco Giants' players don’t have a ton of confidence, considering how they’re used.www.sfchronicle.com

Nothing really new. Though it is a good point that it tells players they not good enough and are replaceable. That doesn’t build confidence or a sense of actually adding to the success of the team.Doh! I'll link MLB TradeRumor instead . . .
NL West Notes: Machado, Smith, Giants
Right elbow surgery seems to be in the cards for Manny Machado, and the star third baseman shed a bit …www.mlbtraderumors.com
It does give more credence to what some on this forum have said about the Giants not being able to attract free agents due to the way the team is ran. If true, that could further complicate this offseason. Probably why FZ leans so hard on bounce back candidates for his signings.Nothing really new. Yeah. I don’t really see any arguments for not retaining all these guys.MLB Trade Rumors published their arb estimates for 2024. These all seem like no brainers to retain.
- Austin Slater (5.147): $3.6MM
- J.D. Davis (5.137): $6.8MM
- Mike Yastrzemski (4.128): $7.3MM
- LaMonte Wade Jr. (4.035): $3.3MM
- Tyler Rogers (4.034): $3.2MM
- Thairo Estrada (3.169): $4.8MM
Are you suggesting that there may have been something happening with the Giants behind closed doors that we, as posters on the ‘hoop were not aware of?I wonder if this is why Slater's production tailed off in the 2nd half

I expected better from Stripling but I had my doubts on the other three the moment they signed. Still, Haniger's production when he could play was worse than I expected. That balances with Conforto playing slightly above my expectations.Brisbee today:
Haniger, Ross Stripling, Michael Conforto (if he opts in) and Sean Manaea (ditto) produced a cool 0.8 WAR for $38 million last season, with Haniger’s backloaded contract making that seem less expensive than it really is.
Yikes
Since his Perfecto-bid…Looks like, even if Cobb's option is exercised for 2024, the Giants will need to fill the rotation spot with openers or a short term starter. Hope Winn, Beck and Harrison get legitimate shots.
