I couldn't care less about his weight. What I care about is that he can HIT. And hit with POWER. He has shown very little ability to do either this season, so yeah, buh-bye!
The Giants have too many DH type players on the roster (Pederson, Flores and Conforto are the most obvious). I think its time to consider making Flores the full time DH and let Pederson walk. There isn't room a on the roster for his abilities since all he can really do is DH.

And he's not doing that particularly well, either. If he hit 25-30 homers, there may be a spot for him. Be he has what, a dozen homers? He should hit that many by accident.

In sports how you play is as much a part of it as results. I can greatly enjoy a season where they don't win a title. Most of them end that way.
I agree.

Thats why I HATE HATE HATE this season. It has not been enjoyable and the team has consistently played like shit. But at least there are individuals to root for…

Oh fuck it…

Gee, I wonder why he loves the way they run the organization so much? Pederson is quoted as saying “I really like it here. It’s a great group of guys. I love the way they run the organization.” He wants to come back. I hope he finds a new home that he likes even more.

Dude is a freakin’ joke. He doesn’t take his career seriously. Why should he? The Giants paid him 3x his market rate just make sure they had him.

Dont the door hitcha where the good lord splitcha…

I mean, the first half was fun with Doval and Bailey gunning guys out and seeing names like Matos and Luciano start off, Webb and Cobb turned in gems. The whole pen was fun. And for a bit they were scoring runs and looked good. Those were fun times for me.

The weight is a symptom of the fact he doesn’t do what is needed. Dude just doesn’t take the game seriously.

I will agree with msg that there was about a month where this team was fun. I wouldn't say the whole first half because the first month was miserable. But after the ASG, this team has been downright terrible.

I don’t expect this to happen, but…

They should DFA DeJong and call up Lucy.
Place Walker on the IL (60?) and add Fitz. Walker has shown enough this year, and he looks gassed. Send him to the showers.
IL Wade and call up Heliot. This causes a bit of an issue at 1st, but JDD can cover there along with Flores. Maybe IL Flores instead?

That leaves Schmitt and Harrison who still need to be added. I am OK with passing on Schmitt. He is still a BIG piece moving forward, but he had a heavy season. Take a breather, kid. Harry, though, needs to come up to avoid the option use. Jackson? Wood? Flores/Wade?

Again, no way this happens, but there is no point in running deprecated assets out there every day at this point.

Agreed. Maybe IL both Wade and Flores and bring up Meckler too so they don't burn an option year on him already. They've got a couple more days, I believe, before that option counts.

What is the rule for options? 20 days? Even if Harry is kept down, were there even 20 days left in the season for that to be an issue?

I believe it is 20 days. I don't think it is measured by the AAA season but by the MLB season.

It was just mentioned on KNBR, and it isn’t on COT’s spreadsheet, but it is mentioned in the team write up…

Webb signed a 5/90 that starts next year. I will update the status for next year in the next post…

I’m ok with letting all the free agents going.

Want to keep all the guys in arbitration happy

Wish all the player options would not take it

Only want Cobb for Club option

And wish Haniger and Desclafani were somewhere else

I'd like Alexander back. I'd be ok with all the Arbs back. Low odds any of the options leave, but we can hope. Cobbs option is a foregone conclusion. Meech and Disco are decent candidates for bounce back seasons in 24.

Altho the season has been a shitshow, if you'd told me in April we'd be .500 on Sep 21, I'd have been mildly disappointed but not surprised.

I'm pretty happy with the farm system, so I'm focusing on that.

I'd prefer Brebbia over Alexander but I understand that Brebbia is a red head, so there is that.

Haniger was a bounce back candidate for 2023 as well (thus the reason for signing). DeSclafani is probably a candidate for not making it through a season healthy. That was the risk that suppressed his free agent value (thus the reason the Giants got him at the price they did) and that risk has played out. He does seem good when healthy, so I hope that if he is injured, he doesn't throw 5 starts before going on the IL.
