"Signed to a four-year, $156 million contract that included $110 million guaranteed and an average annual salary of $39 million, Watson's contract includes a no-trade clause, per sources informed of his deal. The team isn't allowed to trade Watson without his written consent, according to the language in his contract."
Mortenson is saying Watson could waive it to go to the Dolphins.

The Dolphins aren't sold on him and the Texans might like Tua and a few picks for Watson.

Lol, sounds like the Texans are about to make another ridiculous trade this off-season - looking to go back-to-back!

Tua’s shown enough excellence this year to keep building around him, with hopefully a new OC that doesn’t leash him.

Not saying it's not true but "informed speculation" from a source is pretty weak reporting on Mort's part.

Also Mort has no idea if the Texans want Tua or not. Caserio and the new HC could think Tua sucks for all we know.

And I'm sure there are a few teams Watson would likely waive his no trade clause for.

With that said if Watson does hit the market I'd consider the Dolphins an early favorite for him because even if Houston doesn't want Tua they still have the #3 pick along with a lot of other enticing picks.

9ers would be my other favorite because they can offer a pretty good 1st rounder at #12, Jimmy G who Caserio probably likes since he was with the Pats when they drafted him, and a lesser talked about factor is you'd be putting Watson in the NFC where you'd only have to worry about him once every 4 years or in the Super Bowl.

Obviously more picks beyond that would be involved but #3 and #18 from the Dolphins would be really enticing.

No way they take Jimmy G for Watson

Tua at least has upside. And a better first rounder.

Texans screwed up. Steelers have managed to keep Omar khan here for sometime, even with interest in him multiple times. He’s a major asset, and an absolute stud who you want to run your organization.

Mort's one of the best in the business.

Or if he wants to be team president let him interview for the job. He's a good QB but someone needs to take him aside and explain who does what on a team.
Except, they told him he'd be part of the GM search.

Basically, they lied to him.

I would be down with a Russell Wilson/Rashaad Penny trade for DeShawn Watson... :D

Hawks would get 7 years younger at QB and the Texans will gain a top QB in return along w/ a solid ,young RB...

Ya and who knows maybe he has a real knack for massaging millions of cap dollars, launching rockets and performing heart transplants too.

I just think his main priority needs to be locating receivers and throwing the ball to them en route to a championship. Just do that for now and maybe hold off a decade or two before trying to run a franchise.

Would the recent extension make him very difficult to trade?
