FWIW, there are a lot of Steeler fans that don't think Beachum is worth the money, too.

I agree that Beach > Okung. But if we can't get Beachum back, I would like to see Okung here. We made an offer of what we think he's worth. Won't know what that is unless he accepts it.
I'm just hoping that they aren't taking the same offer they gave Beach and throwing it at Okung. Beach is easily top 10 in the league and would be easier to justify paying as such. Whether anyone believes he's worth it or not. Okung, probably not so much. He would be a good addition, but I'm not sure he's worth paying as much considering AVill is already a quality player and could possibly be a step up from Okung. Just my thought process.

I could be wrong about Okung though.

Would love to hear from some SEA fans on what they really think of Okung. I see they have a thread goin on their forum, but to save us the time... Anyone care to give us an overview? Is Okung worth the money? @HaroldSeattle , @Sharkonabicycle , @boogiewithstu2007

Depends who ask. He's a risk health wise, but I really want the Seahawks to sign him, best blocker we had last year.

I'd honestly rather sign Beachum. Outside of an ACL the guy stays on the field and has more upside than Okung. Look, if you could guarantee Okung's health he'd be top 5 in the league... but he's not, because he's constantly off the field with crap and I wonder how many times he's playing injured to boot.

Beachum will come at a discount and Seattle can likely get him on a sort of prove it deal. We're already at $15M or so cap to play with thanks to the stupid Jon Ryan deal. Need someone cheaper.

Since you asked, Okung is quite possibly the most athletically gifted OT in recent years. He has the perfect blend of footwork, speed, size, etc. That said, he can't stay on the field. Okung has never started an entire full season since entering the NFL which is mind blowing. In a game where O-Line continuity is everything, this is a HUGE flaw. GREAT when 100% healthy, but is 50% of the time worth it? For those that need the 'derp cards' - yes I'm aware he has played more than 50% of his games, but I still question how often he's been 100% in those games. Pretty obvious if you've watched him that he's laboring against some pedestrian DLs.

And it only gets more odd

Steelers to host Broncos offensive tackle Ryan Harris this week

Steelers seem hell-bent on signing a starting OT? They know something we don't?

Well, it's hard to say, but more than anything I think they need another OT and there guys out there with starting experience. Why not take a shot at starting talent on the cheap given Avill is still learning the position?

If these were strong offers, Beach would have taken it I'm thinking.

Isn't that injured time inflated by his early career? IIRC he's only missed 5 games in the last two seasons. Right?

Anyway, still hoping to retain Beachum here.

Apparently Okung stayed over the weekend just to meet him.

I Like Okung ... When he's healthy I think he's a good LT ... His only issue was getting dinged up a bit, but overall I think he's a good player...

Even though he's older, Donald Penn is a much more durable option at LT. The guy has missed only one game in the past eight seasons and he's a good player.

IMO, they don't need to invest $5-6 mil on a LT with all the money invested so far on the OL (I think they're 5th maybe league wide OL collective cap hit), but I wouldn't mind seeing some competition brought in at the position and best man plays.

Why so? I know you wanted Beach back, but that ship had sailed when he didn't take whatever they offered...I'm happy for Beach to be honest if he got a multi-yr deal...he's earned it, just maybe too rich for the Steelers cap.
