Eric will be the starter by week one. I think he is starting to feel it and things are starting to slow down a little. Yeah bad news on Fleming. I feel this will end his time here at SF. Back to Back years. Not a good sign.

We need to pick up a WR. Too many injuries with the WR. Williams hurt his hammy. So we have Williams, Ricardo, Mario, Patton and Crabtree injured.

Colin Kaepernick - QB - 49ers

Colin Kaepernick believes he's gotten faster after training with "Olympic runners and jumpers" this offseason.

"There are a lot of details to running that I never even thought about," Kaepernick said of his work with the track athletes. "I just went out and ran. I think I can be faster. I think I can be quicker." One of the most freakish athletes in North American sports, we wouldn't put it past him. Kaepernick has also reportedly been putting on a show as a passer in the early days of 49ers camp, which isn't surprising considering how well he showed after replacing Alex Smith. Only San Francisco's dicey receiver corps can slow Kaepernick down this season.

I agree with SI. It will come down to the Wrs. I think having Davis and Boldin helps a lot but we still need atleast 1 more WR he can count on.

Vernon Davis - TE - 49ers

Vernon Davis continues to take reps with the wide receivers during 49ers camp.

Davis exclusively practiced with the wideouts at June minicamp. It wasn't a one-week experiment, as he's been splitting time between receiver and tight end over the past few days. With Michael Crabtree (Achilles') down, Davis' role in the passing game is going to increase. "I see a lot of improvement, in his ability as a football player, his route-running," coach Jim Harbaugh said. "He looks really good, in the prime of his career." Davis will play all over the field and is a good bet to lead San Francisco in receiving this season.

Cam Johnson and Ian Williams might wind up as pleasant surprises this season which I think would be huge for our defense if those two can step up.

Seems like Williams has the early edge at starting at NT and it's encouraging to hear he's been getting a push up the middle.

Johnson might wind up being a 3rd down specialist and a guy we might be able to swap in for Brooks on obvious passing plays.

no doubt.

it is huge whenever anyone steps up, takes pressure off the draft and off the cap.

I know its early, but AJ doesn't seem to be catching on......

"THE JENKINS

Here is everything A.J. Jenkins did today.

1. During one-on-one drills, he lost to Nnamdi Asomugha and beat Daryl Morris. Jenkins tried to run a quick hitch route in front of Asomugha, but the veteran cornerback was all over it and knocked it away. Against Morris, Jenkins beat his press, ran a square in and made a nice catch on a low pass from Kaepernick.

2. During seven-on-sevens, Jenkins let his first target sail right through his hands. Later, he beat Morris on a short slant and he beat Lowell Rose on a deep dig route.

3. During 11-on-11s, he caught zero passes. Kaepernick tried to force one to Jenkins on a drag route, but Tramaine Brock was all over him, knocked the ball away, Jenkins fell to the ground and Brock made the interception.

4. Later during 11-on-11s, Jenkins gained 10 yards on an end around.

5. His final play of 11-on-11s, Jenkins lined up at split end and motioned behind Daniels in the Pistol. Daniels ran the triple option, faking the inside handoff to a running back and then sprinting to the right with Jenkins. Daniels flipped a perfect pitch but Jenkins dropped it. Culliver recovered it and ran it into the end zone."

I do have to laugh that Grant is so petty and still so upset about the Jenkins selection that he has a special section devoted to Jenkins in his training camp day wrap ups. Every time Jenkins makes a mistake I'm sure Grant pumps his fist and can't wait to write it down on his blog.

I'm just surprised he doesn't put up how Fleener is doing as well.

I'm not going to crucify Jenkins because he can't beat Asomugha when training camp reports are saying that Asomugha is looking like more like the guy who played for Oakland. Really disappointed that he can't beat Brock and that with contact he is still falling down though.

Hopefully he just had a bad day and he'll grow a lot by the end of camp, but I'm not as optimistic about that as I used to be, it's unfortunate, but he shouldn't get owned by someone like Brock.
