You do realize the Heat had way more guards than forwards right?

They only had 4 pf/c and one is currently out until mid March at the earliest.

They had 9 or 10 guards on the roster
Heat are now paying a front court of Ryan Anderson, James Johnson, Kelly Olnyk and Hassan Whiteside a combined almost 75M --- and all of them are on the payroll next year.

Hmmm. Looking at your roster you have.

Bigs - Olynyk, Bam, Winslow and Johnson
Guards - Dragic, Waiters, Richardson, McGruder, Wade.

I'm not really bashing the Heat for making this move. I just don't get the point of it.
if they cut Anderson they save like 3-4M

Yeah. So they will only be about 20 million over the cap next year instead of 23 million.

I guess the Heat are just going to bite the bullet and ride out this current roster.

Winslow isnt a big. Been the PG for the last 2 months.

Don't think he played PF this season

i dont think they have a choice.

Riley has saddled them with so many mediocre players that make big money over the last few years its crazy.

even after next year--- when Whiteside will be gone- they will still have:

J. Johnson- player option worth 16M that he is not turning down

K. Olnyk- player option worth 12M that could go either way

Winslow- 13M- solid contract

Waiters- 13M- could go either way but id be more prone to saying thumbs down

Richardson- 11M- amazing

Bam- QO of 5 but at that point they will have to extend him or risk losing hims an RFA.

That- not even counting Bam at all- is 65M committed to the '20-'21 season already - and after that season they dont even have their #1 pick.

He was drafted to be a swing that could play the 4 and played the 4 at Duke.

I get that but this year he's been mainly the PG so we had 9 guards and 4 bigs prior to this trade

its nice Winslow having this versatility- but i would imagine the long term plan is to get a real point guard. I doubt they resign dragic- but who knows

Oh. Well that makes a bit more sense. This is luxury tax avoidance.
yah....save about 11M total- and just go from Tyler Johnson to Ryan Anderson- which, at this point since Anderson is pretty washed, is a down grade, but its not like Johnson is anything special.

The Suns now have a million wings....

no way they sign Oubre now right? Id rather have Oubre than TJ to be honest.

But they still have Drummond and you can't have both those guys on the floor at once.

Maybe they should just go Drummond, Maker, Zaza, Blake and Leuer. They can just try to pass over everyone.

Maybe.....they plan on trading Leuer or Zaza.
