Fedde is pitching way above his level...in a situation that is as close to "no pressure" that there can be for an MLB player. His value is determined by the culmination of his history with a slight adjustment upward for recent events. No way he was going to bring back a top prospect.
Not a top prospect but a great package. This ain’t it

I pretty much agree that we wouldn't nor shouldn't receive a great package for Fedde, but being that he still has another year left on his contract, I was hoping we'd get a bit more than we did.

without getting into it .. i totally diagree. for a guy who could significantly help a contender this year and next we was robbed. fedde is NOT above his current level. he made serious changes and he's not the guy he was with washington and it's obvious!

I'll take that bet.

Eric Fedde's career ERA from this point forward will be north of 4.5...

...I'll also double down and say at least one of the prospects we got in this deal will turn out better than Moncada and/or Kopech...and we traded one of the best pitchers in franchise history for those bums.

Did you see what Toronto got for a pitcher that’s career era is over 5 and this yr is 4.50

You made me look...

A 3rd, 7th and 18 rounder is what they got? This is your gotcha here?

Two of those players are 25+ and the other 23 years old...while we got two 19 year olds and a 22 year old. *shrugs*...I'll take the younger when it comes to potluck prospects. Who the f*ck cares about a later rounder that's 26 years old on this team...much less an unproven one? They'll be AT LEAST 30 before we matter again...if they're even any good.

I know we're sh*tty and no doubt I'm sure our sh*tty GM could do better...but man the overreaction is priceless. Eric Fedde is not some irreplaceable player. We'll have some prospect come up and pitch at his level in the near future.

Wanna be angry about something? Be angry when we trade Crochet in a few hours...or when we hit 30 losses in a row or whatever the hell low point we're gonna end up at...

But no...We're sitting here..at 15 losses in a row and about to lose a franchise pitcher...like "DUDE WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN A BETTER HAUL FOR ERIC...F*CKING...FEDDE."

Worst...Season...Ever.

Looks like Crochet is staying put, at least until the offseason, and honestly it makes sense. He reportedly let it be known that he doesn't want to finish the season, nor go into the playoffs as a relief pitcher. That and apparently a demand that he wants an extension probably reduced his value to diddly squat. All guesses of course.

OTOH:

A surprisingly decent return for DeJong. No word yet what the Sox are getting in return for Jimenez. Probably won't be much tho.

And the odds of Moncada being on the team next year are slim to none, and last I heard slim left the building with Elvis. So you'll have another "good riddance" to add when he's gone. :lm:

Moncada was great in 2019, started the COVID 2020 season red hot until he got a real bad case himself, said he couldn't breathe right the rest of the season after returning, and was never the same.

I feel like that's lost in the midst of his demise. I wonder what he would have to say if you asked him exactly how much that affected his career. I mean, I've hated watching him like anyone else the last few years. However, people forget that he was mostly living up to the hype for a period.

Moncada has done nothing in his prime, so I'd be shocked if he turns it around at 30 years old next season. If he did, I would bet dollars to donuts it wouldn't be with our sh*tty way of doing things. Just best to move on and not take his option, even if there's an inkling he could somehow rebound. Move on and clean the slate with a fresh set of players with (hopefully) an optimistic outlook.

I'm done with the whole core of this failed "dynasty" at this point.

Anderson and Abreu are done, so those were good moves regardless of how the rest of the downfall turned out.

I'm glad we unloaded Eloy and Kopech, both of which never panned out in any reasonable way.

I'm good with dumping Robert at this point too. Get what we can out of him. Sad because I really thought he was going to be the next big thing in baseball.

Losing Cease hurt the most of them all but he's 28 now and will be well into his 30's before we have any chance of mattering again, so I'm over it at this point.

Crochet, from the looks of it, is going to be a mistake letting go because he's good and still only 26...but I've accepted it as we all know Jerry isn't going to f*cking pay him.

We Sox fans have to live in bizarro world where we hope our players are good-but not THAT good-until the "right" season hits or we're going to lose the player(s) to teams that actually pay big contracts. Kinda need that lightning in a bottle situation like 2005 where an insane amount of perceived "average to above average" players all hit their stride together before contract situations become involved. Good luck with that approach. My guess is everyone on this board is gonna be dead before the White Sox win a WS again.

Pain.

Just give me one f*cking Bears title before I die is my only request as a Chicago fan at this point. I'm just in it for the Churros, the crack of the bat, and seeing what iddy posts when Reinsdorf dies (Does he go full on optimist?!?) when it comes to the White Sox. Anything more than that out of them is gravy.
