Bob Gibson and Lou Brock were my favorite players at that time. Gibson ended up with an ERA of 1.12. He had a great fastball but I saw guys fall backwards onto the ground with his breaking pitch and it would be a called strike. Fortunate enough to see him pitch against the Astros in Houston as my dad was being transferred from Hawaii to Cape Cod and we stopped or a few days in Houston.

I have his autograph on a baseball. He was at a Sears signing autographs in the 60’s.

If the Rangers are planning on Gray competing for the closer role, I think we will hesr about it at the onset of training camp. If he isn't being considered for the closer role, then we really have an extra starting pitcher. If he is going to be a starting pitcher, then they probably wait a few weeks to make sure all of the starters stay healthy before making a trade.
