JJ has put his toy in a bad spot at the QB position. Dead money on Romo's recently restructured contract is over $41MILLION this year. Next year Romo's cap hit is $27 MILLION yet the dead money for 2015 will drop to about $20 Million.
With that in mind the `Boys are in a tough spot. If they draft a QB this year it might make sense to flush Romo next year and eat the $20 Million.
JJ is very capable of drafting Johnny F!
A superb example of mismanagement to the 12th power.

You don't have the first clue about the Cowboys cap. They will be in good shape next year, and in great shape the year after that. As it sits today, they could sign anyone left on the market. Stick with your one and done seachickens

I could definately see Jerry selecting Manziel. This is a team that had all kinds of QB controversies in the past with White & Hogeboom, Aikman & Walsh. I know one thing if it happens all hell is going to break loose on TV. It would be hilarious.

I'd buy it.

One joke of a QB to another?

not gonna happen. Yes it is easy to point at Jerry liking to make splashes & all the countless flaws he has wit the draft.
But
If he pickd up a QB in the 1st two rounds it would be with intentions of starting, which would mean Jerry would have to eat his ego about resigining Romo, & Jerry wont be doing that.
If the Cowboys draft a QB this year it will be with the intentions of finding a long term back up.
Manziel to the Cowboys simply will not happen.

Now if Manziel drops to #16 I could see the Cowboys trading back with whomever wants him.

Yes, he absolutely could.

Is it the right move to help them on the field? No - they need to go defensive but since when has Jerry given a frak about such minutia?

I could see him doing this purely as a PR move.

It would sell jersey's and put fans in the seats.

Jerry doesn't need to do anything to ''put fans in seats''. This is the Cowboys we are talking about lol.The only 1% chance that it could happen is if Romo's back is much much worse than is being reported. If they think he is good to go, the pick will be front 7, OL, WR or S

Not going to happen... Manziel will go in the 1st round even though he shouldn't. Jerry has put too much into Romo for them to spend a 1st round pick on Manziel. They would be smarter to pick up Mettenberger or Carr in the 2nd/3rd. But if Manziel was there in the 2nd then without a doubt they would.

Mettenberger, Carr, Garrapollo and Murray have as much potential as Manziel, Bridgewater and Bortles in my opinion

I would put all of those names before Manziel... Just my opinion

But the simple fact that Manziel is a Texas boy that will sell tickets would push him to the front of the list.

Manziel could have success if he falls into a Russell Wilson type situation. If he went to a very good team with no QB, I could see it, but if he were expected to carry a team, it's gonna be turnover city for a while. Arizona and St Louis would be ideal landing spots for him IMO. Carry the clipboard for a year or two, and then step into a good situation

I would agree to an extent... It's still debatable whether he would produce given a RW type situation. I haven't seen much in terms of NFL talent from him, but as we all know some situations have proven successful with worse.

I'll believe it when I see it...

No, he can't. Put him in Seattle and they're .500 at best. He's a fucking joke with no skill whatsoever.

Manziel would need an elite receiver to have the best chance of success.

Looks like I know more than you are giving me credit for. Dallas will be in great shape next year? Dallas will have about $80M committed to next years cap in their top 6 most expensive players. It sounds like you are just fine with that.
Livin` in your own world...

Clip and save, we'll see. I said we would be in good shape next year and great shape the year after that. A lot of people said we couldn't get under this season, we got to $10 million under with some actual sound personnel decisions. Letting Ware walk over giving him $10 million a year was a solid move. Letting Hatcher go after a career year and picking up a much younger, stronger scheme fit in Melton was another. Letting go of Austin was the right move as well. We could have signed more FA's this year, but Jerry also rightfully saved the money for TSmith and Dez. I'm the first to bust Jerry, but he has done well this year

Manziel is guaranteed to be a joke. Wilson may not be all that good, but compared to Manziel he's the jerry rice of the position.
