I wonder sometimes about the "new" front office. Seems like the ghosts of Hextall and WTFC are still present and screwing things-up as usual.
Pelletier was on waivers. Why didn't we claim him then? Seems dumb to trade for him later.
Have to dump folks who aren’t getting anywhere near their ceiling. Closer to their floorThe real bright side in this trade to me is, at least management saw this wasn't working and took the initiative to start fixing it, like Sparhawk said, we have quite a few assests and if used correctly could put us on a way better track, we also have a few potential diamonds in our younger talent, hopefully a couple of those guys pan out. Don't forget, we are probably going to get a good haul for Risto and Laughton, just hope their not afraid to pull the trigger.

I guess the next question is, will Torts be here after this season? This team isn't any better since he's taken the helm, IMO.
I think he get's the year and they need to move him into the front office in some role. He has played his part and a team player, and the typical flyer way would be to give him some role in an advisory position. I just don't think we have seen him develop anyone of the prospects to the point where you can justify him staying on with a team that is very entrenched in rebuild. Risto he has done well with, but i don't think thats enough. Especially when we all know the right move is to move on from him at the deadline.Obviously not a Torts guy, but I don't see any reason to get rid of him at this point. Still a patchwork roster, still punching above their weight IMO. Turned Risto from an albatross to something they should actually get some value back for.
Worth keeping an eye on his relationship with Michkov. Benched again last night. If that starts to deteriorate you'll have a decision to make.
Its not so much that as to actually ridding ourselves of the last of their mistakes, both of them made some big mistakes were still paying for. Hopefully we get better as we clean up the remaining rooster. Like it's been said, lots of pieces we have to get better, just have to be used more wisely going forward.I wonder sometimes about the "new" front office. I don't know if I have ever seen a team so committed to a rebuild put a guy that doesn't really have patience for mistakes in the coaching role. Michkov has said all the right things but you'd got to think this nonsense of benching with limited minutes can't be sitting well with him.
We haven't been committed to a rebuild, its been an almost rebuild but not really. I do like your idea that now with this trade we might be headed in the direction of actually doing a real rebuild that Torts can go upstairs somewhere next season.I think he get's the year and they need to move him into the front office in some role. Farabee wasn't living up to his $5,000,000 cap hit, so they cleared 3 years of that. A few years ago it looked like Frost was taping into his potential but he seems to leveled out. At times he looked like a real player and then disappear. With York and Foerster RFA's next year, that extra $5,000,000 will help.
