Those guys didn't fit on any top line in the future here, but getting nothing for them sucks.

They did get out from a $5M/year contract for 3 more years and got back an expiring.

The move does mesh with them competing in two years, when a lot of money comes boff the books.

We still have Ryan Ellis for 2 more years @ 6.25 and Hayes/Atkinson for 1 more year @ 5.2 combined.

And no one worth giving the money to.

14th overall pick

Turned into nothing. Pathetic.

Hextall's draft record takes another hit. He was the GM from 2014-2018

Sanheim, Fedotov, TK, Cates, Lycksell, Ginning and Ersson the only guys left still with the organization. And not really a ton in regards to return for any of the ones that left. 8 first round picks, 6 second round picks in that time span.

Edit: The Provorov return still has value. Bonk, Grans, and the Avs 1st this year have roots from that deal.

TK will be the only one standing in a season or two, maybe Cates.

Came here to see if I should be excited about the trade or down about it and the feeling I am getting is..... meh whatever :noidea:

Pretty much. It's a big deal in terms of contract values and former high end picks. But it's mostly guys that didn't live up to their hype. Hopefully the Flyers come out on the right side of the 'change of scenery' benefits.

I kind of expect them to retain salary and flip Kuzmenko before the deadline. Hope he plays 10 or so good games for them and that a playoff team would throw like a 3rd or 4th for them for Kuzmenko at 2.5ish.

Pellettier fills the unfulfilled potential void that Frost leaves behind. But he's younger (and from scouting reports, much more defensively inclined and a good locker room guy).

Also if any of us wanted to make a run at playing Center in the NHL, the Flyers will probably have open try outs this weekend..

I remember the Nuggets did that here a long time ago. Don't remember how it turned out but good lord, pro sports should never get to that point!

The real bright side in this trade to me is, at least management saw this wasn't working and took the initiative to start fixing it, like Sparhawk said, we have quite a few assests and if used correctly could put us on a way better track, we also have a few potential diamonds in our younger talent, hopefully a couple of those guys pan out. Don't forget, we are probably going to get a good haul for Risto and Laughton, just hope their not afraid to pull the trigger.

Just 4 points ahead of the 5th pick in the 2025 draft.

Pelletier was on waivers. Why didn't we claim him then? Seems dumb to trade for him later.
