Yep. Just concerned about where they find answers to some pretty major roster holes. 1C, 1D in particular. People don't trade those guys. They don't trade out of positions to draft those guys. Either have to find a project that someone else gave up on and hope they pan out (ie Cozens) or get a steal in the draft.

They certainly have the ammo to take a few swings at stuff like that. It's just a tight needle to thread. So i'm concerned about it.

But IMO, they have the rest of it. Good forward depth, particularly on the wing. Can build a real good 2nd a 3rd pair. Have enough goalies that can at least get it done. Begrudgingly, I'll say Torts has them playing a good style and seemingly they've all bought in. It's just 1C and 1D are the two hardest to get and most critical parts to being a contender.
I agree 100% on the number one center is the main position that needs to be filled and probaly a number 2 as well but i think with the emergence of Sanheim for the second year in a row as our top defenseman with Bonk on the way as well as grans with York with Seeler and Andrae I think we are pretty good in that area as they are all young and will get better. We may be able to get a top of the line number one Dman if Drysdale would stay healthy and package him and a few picks.. Its all up to Danny B to see what he could pull off.

Pumped that Luchanko made the roster. I was pretty lukewarm on him as a pick. Would've preferred Buium. But if they didn't want to go small dman, I was fine with Luchanko in that spot. Just was disappointed how the picks before them went I guess.

Cool that he was picked for the WJC though. That's a promising sign that maybe he could be more than I thought.
Not that i didn't like the pick of Luchanko i just thought if we were going to trade down we could traded further down and still got him which would've brought back a bigger return. I saw him play live from the front row in one of our preseason games and he is really good. Excellent speed and very defensively responsible. Wont be a 90 point scorer but will play a very solid 2 way game.

For what it's worth, Coots made the play on our 1st and 3rd goals tonight and got the assist both times too. He wins a lot of battles, he's seemingly always in the right position and he made a ridiculous pass on Poehling's goal, which led the comeback. He also won 8 of 12 faceoffs, which is 66.7%. Shit on him all you like, but when he plays like this, he is extremely effective and helps us win games.

We should've gotten at least a point out of this one. Too many turnovers and I mostly blame our young defense for that. York was benched in the 3rd period for one egregious turnover that directly led to a goal against, I believe late in the 2nd. Sanheim fumbled the puck at the blue line while 6 on 4, otherwise we may have tied this thing late. Not taking care of the puck was huge and I'm sure Torts is furious over it.

After a really nice comeback and an incredible goal by Tippett, which tied the game at 4, a horrific change gave Kane a breakaway goal. Unfortunately, that was the end.

To only have 19 shots in this game is embarrassing and the 17 giveaways, equally so.

Anyway, at the end of the day, I'm not surprised that Detroit got revenge on us tonight, but we very much handed it to them. Tough loss to take.

Also, the 6 minutes worth of penalties in the 1st period killed us, especially the double minor for high sticking on Tippett. Should've gotten out of there with a 1-0 lead, but they tied it on that very long power play late in the period. Tippett made up for it later with the game-tying goal early in the 3rd, but there were too many turnovers in this game and Detroit took advantage of them.

This is part of being a young squad. We make a lot of inexperienced mistakes, but then we are very resilient too. You have to take the good with the bad as everyone grows and learns together.

Man there goes my theory that we could never lose a game if Couts and Cates get points in the same game.

With the way its going Kolosov may be the starter with Ersson as his back up.

Frost was invisible as was Brink.

On the bright side Couts finally chipped in offensively. He moved himself up to a tie for 150th in the league in points.

Hathaway had 6 hits

Not much else on the bright side as we need to win games like this. We need to crush LA tonight.

I was reading an article about the quarterback Kirk Cousins, it was talking about that this is likely his last season. The ironic part of the story for me is that it said, in a 13 year career this dude has only 1 playoff win, yet has made 321 million dollars. That's freaking crazy! I'm trying to think of a hockey player who has had the same thing and all I can think of is that Dipietro dude.

Does Ryan Ellis count? He is literally stealing our money.

Gotta learn you can't play in spurts! Also I don't complain about Torts too much, but sometimes I wish he would call a timeout and regroup before things go south. I know TO's are precious but sometimes you have to stop the bleeding or it becomes out of reach anyways.

I agree 100%. A couple of times this year i was yelling at the TV for him to call one.

Chase Daniel has only started 5 games in his NFL career yet has made $41.8 million.

Yea a couple of those games I think a timeout may have warranted in different outcomes IMO. I guess that's why they pay me to sit on the couch.

That's nuts to! Is it because of injuries? Or did he come with some hype from somewhere? I have to plead ignorance here as I have no idea who he is(qb i assume) I haven't watched or followed football in at least 12 years.

Lol On the entire roster, only Konecny, Michkov and Sanheim have more points. The whole team is struggling offensively, for the most part, and our power play is bad too.

We've been over this. There is a lot more to hockey than points. Dear God, you are a slow learner.

Besides, if you watched the game and know anything about hockey, turnovers absolutely killed us.

The Veleno goal was via a 3 on 0 break. Laughton and Poehling collided, coughing the puck up to Detroit while both D pinched. The Debrincat goal was via a 3 on 1 after a horrible turnover by York. Compher was left wide open to tip one home on the power play. Again, I don't know what York was doing on that play. The Rasmussen goal probably should've been stopped, but on a rare faceoff loss by Coots, nobody covered him and he sniped one home. Kane was basically given the breakaway on his goal. Going for a change was more important than covering him, apparently.

Ersson needs to be better, sure, but you can't allow all of these odd-man rushes and expect our goalie to just stop them.
