He has 8 days to get healthy. He'd DEFINITELY go to the Habs...that's my guess as a Frenchie. What's the cap sitch up in Montreal?

$11 million. Dear God, Briere needs to get healthy.

I like the joke in the comments section - Murray is so slow he won't arrive in Pittsburgh for two more weeks.

The joke on the Sharks board for a while now is he's so slow he has to speed up just to stop.

It's a depth move, he's not being brought in to fix the D, he's a big body, can block shots and kill penalties. He's on the bottom pair, maybe 7th guy. It takes Engo out of the lineup. They play similar games, but I'd wager Murray hits harder and smarter.

Murray has no business being on the ice at even strength. Doing so is pretty much spotting the other team a 1-0 lead. He's a PK specialist and thats the only time he should see the ice. He has no puck moving ability what so ever. It's so bad that it diminishes any puck moving ability from his defense partner. Teams around the league have learned that if they focus their forecheck on Murray's partner 9 times out of 10 it will result in a neutral zone turnover.

For the Pens sake I hope he's rejuvenated by this trade and gets back to his '09 form.

I am happy they got Murray since it basically gets Engelland out of the lineup. Neither is more than a 6/7 but with Murray at least the Penguins have a Penalty killer.

But yeah he is slow and puck moving abilities aren't there, I guess this is Shero's attempt to get Hal Gill back without getting Hal Gill.

McKenzie on TSN: Asking price for Iginla is top prospect, another good prospect and a 1st round pick

What contender is that desperate for a rental?

they should be able to talk to Iginla about an extension before the trade is actually made. if he agrees then it could be worth it if its 3 years. but it is incredibly steep.

I highly doubt Iggy would agree to a contract extension with a team he didn't play for at least for a bit.

And I'm starting to think Boston may be desperate enough to make this move...really struggling offensively.

Engelland...you can have Deryk Engelland. And a first. There.

Also: Kings may be going in on Iggy too...talk about offensive woes. 7+ periods of shutout hockey now?
