There is one fact about tonight that the Heat need to address.

Yes, Green and Neal had the games of their lives. Yes, the Spurs were unearthly with their three-point shooting.

There is also the fact that the Heat only scored 77.

Even if Neal and Green return to normal in Game 4, Miami still has to do better than that.

Without a doubt. Miami need to score about 94 PPG in order to be in good position to win.

77 points won't cut it.

We sucked tonight on both ends.

He's also going to be pissed that you mentioned it in this thread, if I'm not mistaken.

Hammer's not an asshole, though. He is not going to ban you, I don't think.

An Admin needs to have strong opinions about things and rule the roost the best way he sees fit. He needs to make a decision and then stick with it. Hammer is good at doing all of those things. He's not perfect but he is good enough at what he does that I will support him even if I don't agree with him.
I dont know. He said something to the effect of get out if I was not going to discuss the topic. This is after he started something first.

I just can't see the Heat being as bad on defense as they were tonight....Especially not in the following game

LeBron looked like 2011 Dallas LeBron tonight.

he was afraid to shoot at times...and looked scared.

it wasn't until the SPurs built a 21 pt lead, that the Spurs eased off and gave him some garbage points.

He is the best player on the planet.

If he keep playing so passive and seemingly afraid, I will be ecstatic.

I don't know if it will keep up. But, he does look a lot like the guy who was ultra-passive versus the Mavericks.

If I was LeBron, I would say screw Wade and take 35+ shots.

It is better to lose being aggressive and bad...than lose being passive...

As a Spurs fan, I know the barrage is coming.

But, hopefully they will wait until next season to unleash Lebron.

I can hope at least.

Ouch. That comment at #127 was kind of uncalled for, you have to admit.

Both he and Wade were trying not to take jumpshots. They werent scared. Spurs want them outside shooting jumpers and they were trying to get to the rack. Looks like this is going to come down to Wade and Lebron getting hot from the perimeter if Spurs stay with their defensive plan.

I'm pretty sure Wade wouldn't mind it. As I said on the Heat thread, Wade who already won 2 rings looks like he want this title more than LBJ. If Wade was healthy as he was from DEC-MAR, he would be scoring 22-24 PPG in this series because he is playing the right way. He is not attacking and just about all of his shots are coming from below the ft line outside of an occasional jump shot. Lebron is settling while Wade is still being aggressive and is at least taking make-able shots.

It is not a coincidence that Wade went 7-15 while LBJ went 7-21. One guy was settling while the other was taking easy shots.

It is really not hard to guard spot up shooters. You stay on them and you don't give them any space.

Neal and Green aren't anything special if you force them to put the ball on the floor and drive

If that was true - then the Heat would have done that tonight and won the game. You can say that Wade is not healthy though and I don't think they can win without him as your starting point guard. The Spurs picked up some nice players in the last year that many have overlooked - While everyone was looking at the Heat, Popovich was busy replacing Parker and Duncan with players like Splitter, Leonard and Green - they are doing this by committee.

That was the Lakers problem by the way - when Shaq was around and the last time time without Kobe -When you don't have five players on the court that can really play - you're in trouble

I can't blame Wade for not taking jumpshots. Since his injury his jumpshot has not came back. As for LBJ, I have no idea why he is afraid to shoot. If I am him, I would be in the gym all day tmr just practicing by mid range jump shot and 3's. When the Spurs go under those picks he should be killing them with uncontested jumpshots

Dont you think thats playing into the Spurs hands? I know he has to take that shot now since thats all the Spurs are giving up but its letting the Spurs defense off easy.

I just hope he keeps settling.

Lebron could easily get 15-20 FTS a game if he attacked more often.

But, he just keeps passing the ball and taking jumpshots when he does shoot.

I suspect Spoelstra will unleash him in game 4.

Lebron will probably go for 45 pts and be a force.......

Will it be enough to rattle the Spurs?

I'd appreciate it if these games were close. Trading blowouts is no fun

It's about adjustments and the Heat have a good team with a good coach, but the Spurs also have a very good team with a much better coach and I think Popovich will have more adjustments hidden away and will simply as Rockdacrotch put it - coach the hell out of Spoelstra

If he is missing it does let them off easy BUT if he comes out in G4 on fire and can't miss a J, do you really think they will continue to play so far under him on screens if he come out and drop let's say 23 in the first half?

I kind of like the blowouts.

It sucks to be on the receiving end, but it gives Popovich a chance to rest Duncan, Ginobili, and Parker.

The only good thing from getting your teeth kicked in is extended rest.

Which puzzles me about Spoelstra....

He did it in game 2. I maybe understand that philosophy to send a message.

But, he played Wade and Lebron long minutes tonight instead of pulling them??

Wade has a bum knee and he is out there running around with SA having a 25+ pt 4th quarter lead??

Pop is a great coach but honestly probably outside of the 4th quarter of G1, I don't think coaching has had much impact in this series. In G2 the Heat players got hot and went on a crazy run while tonight the Spurs shooters got HOT in the 2nd half and could not miss.

Leonard is a good defender but I think LBJ is choosing not to drive and instead settle for the jumpshots.

If he does that they have to respond but the Spurs wont get too attached to that knowing he wants to get his teammates involved. It will be good for one game then they will go back to the same game plan. All they are doing is playing the percentages.

Coaching and referees have essentially been solid and relatively invisible.

That is when basketball is at its best.

None of the referees nor the coaches has done anything silly or stupid.

The players have been able to play without over-coaching or over-refereeing.
