I've noticed that we have a few posters who are declaring that Washington should select a QB first in the next draft. I fail to see the reasoning behind this beyond impatience, so, for the record, we put this question to a poll.

I'm not really an advocate for taking a QB with our pick. I've just always felt and stated that it should not be off the table.

It all depends on what Haskins shows the rest of the way. If you can clearly see that he's not the answer why not? Brian Mitchell said he and the rest of the team could see from the first practice that Shuler didnt have it and Gus was much better. The first practice.

I think Tua has a shot to be special. Could be wrong on that. However, this really isn't about Tua. I like Lawernce from Clemson much better than him.

I am of the mindset with the way the modern NFL is structured, that I'm drafting a QB every year until I get that position right.

With the rules where you can't touch to QB or the WR for that matter, you have to have a QB. I don't want to see the Redskins compound the mistake of drafting Haskins, IF IT WAS A MISTAKE AT ALL, by continuing to try and make it work.

Who knows when the Skins will be in position again to draft the top QB available?

If Haskins plays well down the stretch, great. Problem solved. Draft Jeudy, pair him with McLaurin and we are good to go.

You can't ignore what Arizona did.

All this is moot, because we all know even if Haskins sucks, Dan and Bruce will never admit defeat so early on.

Dan would rather lose his way than win somebody else's way. Dan wants to win, but he wants to be seen as the reason they win much more.

I voted yes it all depends on who the next coach is example if you get K.C offense cord you draft Tua ..and also you have to draft a qb anyway because skins better not keep MCCoy.. but if they keep Haskins its not the end of the world you draft the best LT and go from there

Only if:

1. You don't think Haskin's will get there eventually. Doesn't really matter because Dan likes him. Not going to happen.

2. You are so Wowed by a QB in the draft you think is the next sure thing. We know how that worked out with Griffin. So not really an option.

As I mentioned earlier I would be more inclined to draft a QB in rounds 4 or 5 as a backup with a chance in case Dwayne doesn't work out.

Yes. , you draft a qb in the mid rounds because we need a viable BU

but using a first rounder is just spinning wheels on my opinion . Half a year isn’t enough time to evaluate him .

my concern on a Tua is his injuries

I went maybe based on the following:

My number one option is to get three firsts and a couple of seconds out of the pick.

Then if there is a spectacular prospect and Haskins hasn’t shown much, then you can take a QB if we couldn’t find a trade.

I don’t think you will see enough of Haskins in a complete offense to make the call. I think you have to trust why you drafted him . Right now I would like to see him exposed to NFL defenses that aren’t vanilla and learn how to read and manipulate them . I would like him to show he understands our offense and where people are supposed to be and get the team to the LOS. So he can make his pre snap reads better

because in reality a new coach and system will be in place with a new staff

I say no!

As noted by others, we really don't know what we have already and likely won't until the new coaching staff is in place. If Callahan is the choice then trade away Haskins, in favor of Case or Smith, go through another high double digit loss season that's supported by the ole' Jedi mind trick... "We're close!"

The problem with trusting why you drafted him is he was Dan's pick.

If you are in a position to land a QB that you think is above anything you currently have, then yes, you take a QB. The problem is that we have Tweedle Dum (Snyder) and Tweedle Dummer (Allen) making that evaluation. There is no way they will even consider taking a QB because that would mean that they made a mistake on Haskins. They ain't gonna admit that.

They should if the qb prospect is a lock.
If not, they should investigate what they could get for a trade down, and invest heavily on the oline and offensive weapons.

I really hope we draft Chase Young from OSU. He is an absolute stud and from Hyattsville MD so he’s local.

Therein lies the ultimate conundrum, In dysfunctional Washington, he may be Jameis Winston and elsewhere an NFL star.
