SIDENOTE. I don’t think walks are a result of bad defense

At times they could be. Bad defense prolongs innings and long innings leads to more opportunities to walk guys and long innings leads to pitchers becoming more fatigued and maybe losing control because of that fatigue.

On the other hand, bad control leads to longer innings, and that can lead to bad defense.

You could also say, a good offense leads to a pitcher having more confidence, which leads to the pitcher throwing more strikes because he knows if those strikes turn into hits, he isn't necessarily going to lose a 3 to 2 ballgame.

It's funny how it all works together.

If you go to Team Pitching, uncheck the "When table is sorted" box then click on BB9 you'll see who has the highest amount of walks per 9 innings. Lowest starter is Gray at #8 with 2.8 per 9 innings...

I'd say it's roughly half/half between SP and RP...

The Rangers need to hire some of their pitching coaches and see if they can make the Rangers pitching better.

So who are you going to replace in the BP with Rogers 4.53 ERA for $6-8M more???
Do you actually think Diaz will come here after getting very large dollars thrown at him by large market teams, he makes $10M now???



You have to wonder how many of the pitchers ERAs have suffered because the defense is one of the worst in the league at committing errors and boneheaded plays, only 3 teams have committed more...

wry hard to say as we want Zeke to get ABs elsewhere there is Ibanez and Viloria.
Not thinking there is another option unless we open up another 40 man spot and move directly up.
My guess is Ibanez it easily could be wrong Nith may be in rostered by year end
