Evan Grant's very boring prediction at the Opening Day roster in 2023.

Starting pitchers (5): RHP Jon Gray, LHP Martin Perez, RHP Jameson Taillon, RHP Michael Wacha, LHP Cole Ragans.

Relievers (8): RHP Jonathan Hernández, LHP Matt Moore, RHP José Leclerc, LHP Brock Burke, LHP Taylor Hearn, LHP Brett Martin, LHP John King, RHP Dennis Santana.

Catchers (2): Jonah Heim, Mitch Garver (DH).

Infielders (6): 1B Nathaniel Lowe, 2B Marcus Semien, SS Corey Seager, 3B Josh Jung, INF-OF Josh Smith, INF Mark Mathias.

Outfielders (5): LF Michael Conforto, CF Leody Taveras, RF Adolis García, OF Bubba Thompson, OF Brad Miller.
I wonder if Grants next prediction will include Santana after last nights performance

If he’s the backup for 2023, if I’m Huff I’m asking to be traded.
So what do you expect to get in return besides a bag of used hockey pucks

They probably get a pretty good return. He’s been one of their top prospects the last couple of years. He has hit pretty well when he has been called up.

so give up Huff so that Plawecki can play? that should guarantee at least 2 more losing seasons

He's not in the Top 30 any more he's been passed by because of his lack of quality hitting, too many strikeouts not enough walks and not enough dingers to make up for the other 2...

Lack of quality hitting. He plays once a week. How is he suppose to prove he can hit. You clearly don’t much about baseball.

He has played in half of the games in Sept since he was recalled basically splitting time with Heim, neither one seems to be showing they deserve more playing time than the other offensively or calling games...

He wasn't hitting when he was playing regularly when he was up earlier in the year it's been a steady decline to this point, once pitchers get used to him he doesn't seem to adjust well to what they're throwing him...

Enough not to be a homer...

Re Huff
Do think the book is out in him. Doubt if he is the second coming and had not problem with him at club level or AAA as king as he got playing time
Strikeouts are a concern

How the Rangers are handling the catcher situation is a mystery but maybe we move Heim or Garver or Huff and that might make sense.
Would be weird to think they are using new catcher to sign Nathan E

@Uncle Siggy Huff did get off to a good start hitting wise more than you perhaps realize and he sat much to the board chagrin but yes I was surely not going to be the bank on him for that stretch or think we ruined him

I am all for more homerism enthusiastically speaking but sometimes the announcers love themselves more than the team minus Nadel.

1st 10 games he did fine but it's been a steady decline since then. IKFs stats look better than Huffs extrapolated for the whole season and folks whined about him...

He is not in the top 30 any longer because he has been on a MLB roster too much, much like Leody and Smith.
