Series Thread: Rangers Host Angels for Three Games August 14-16

Need to address the bench this offseason

Should have this year instead of hanging on to Miller and Grossman.

You can add Jankowski to that list. He is 7 for his last 61.

Looking at guys like Smith and Duran and even Leody, none have struggled as bad as Jankowski has the last 61 at bats. We may have run out of luck with Janks. He hit way over his career average for over 3 months.

It may be time to bring someone else up from the minors to keep Jank and Leody out of the lineup. Either that or see what Josh Smith can do. Even at his worst this year, he was better than Jankowski has been lately.

We really needed a bat at the deadline, but there were none to be had.

The last 3 losses have all been on the last game of a series that we had already won. I hope they don't think they can let up once the series is won. We have scored a grand total of 2 runs in those 3 games combined.

Losing Jung hurts and can't overlook Garcia either.He has faltered too. Lots of different problems that can't be over come when they all happen at once.

Grossman is 6 for his last 16.

Duran is 7 for his last 18.

Taveras and Jankowski are the offensive culprits of late.

The others will struggle at times, like Seager, Heim, Garcia and Lowe, but they aren't coming out of the lineup.

We are short on replacements. All of our efforts were aimed at pitching in the off season.

Losing is one thing. Scoring 2 runs in 27 innings is something different. That smells of mailing it in. It's not like we are facing Cy Young in those games.

Tonight he went 0 for 3 with a walk, bringing his OPS down to 1.028.

Garcia is in an extended slump. Jankowski is back to his utility back up OF days, Tavares peaked back in May, and Grossman is not an everyday player. Jung would help but still too many holes in lineup right now. JPM has been great but that won't continue in a postseason series.

Pitching has been really really good. Just don't have consistent hitting outside of Seager, Garver, and maybe Semien.

I don't know if other fanbases are like this, but Rangers fans are so incredibly hyperbolic about this sort of stuff. It's amusing until you realize that it's hard to have discourse with people who freak out about everything.

We do kind of freak out every time we lose. It has been a great month and I hope we keep the trend going.

I am just enjoying this ride. The last 4 years have been (as the great Gerry Fraley would say) a beating. I'll take 2 out of 3 every time... that equates to 98 wins.

I would be glad to take that, as long as it is EVERY time. It is never going to be like that every time though. Sometimes you are going to lose 3 or 4 in a row. At times you have to win more than 2 of 3 to make up for those times when you lose 6 or 7 out of 10.

I would like to see Duatin Harris start making it difficult to not bring him up. He is having a really good August so far. I hope he starts to catch fire.
