Decent game for Perez.
Need this lineup to put up a few more runs.

Well likely still 90 losses

More Rays exTribe and Yanks ahead.
Plus the Mariners with something to prove
72-90 would be a nice improvement off of last year.
IMO there will be a larger win improvement next year If they can successfully upgrade the rotation, and land 2-3 good bullpen pieces.
85-90 wins may not be unreasonable.
They are 19-10 in games started by Perez, fyi.

Good win. LeClerc is terrible, though.
anyone doubt now that Leclerc and Hernanadez are not the answers as a closer. and Leclerc has a $6M option for 2023. i would pass on it. we need dependable relievers and a real closer and not shop the bargain basement for them

Maybe they can decline and then resign him to a $2.5 million deal

Why? More or less money won't change his results.

My take on LeClerc and Hernandez

Coming off TJS a pitcher is historically wild and they were rushed through MILB rehabilitation
They generally regain control so the real issue is do they have swing and miss stuff assuming they will walk less batters

LeClerc likely will never get that back he once had years ago although he probably has the best temperament. Not sure about what is comparable for 6 million Without any knowledge I bet they pick up option

Hernandez does have elite stuff but does seem to get flustered. I think he can close next year assuming he gets better control but I don’t like him long term there. Maybe 7th or 8th
You have to have short term memory to close

Relief pitchers are a dime a dozen and they are never shutdown for their whole careers, there are always bumps in the road that last for months/years before they turn it around...

Where do you think all of the failed starters go - to the BP

I think he’s worth $2.5 million but not $6 million.
Would be nice to still have him but would like more money to get others.
He’s coming off TJS, first year back.. should be even better next year.. shoot they may pick up his $6 million option.. he’s got a 129 ERA+, 3.09 ERA. Not terrible. Should get better

why? does that improve our bullpen. i know i'm in minority on this but we have a bargain basement bullpen and if we don't sign a quality closer and relievers (at least 2) then signing another good starter and maybe trading for another would be a waste because the bullpen can't hold leads

Agree we don't need more of the same.Keep on doing what you've always done and you will keep on getting what you've always got.

I think he’s a solid bullpen arm

Now, John King, Brett Martin and Dennis Santana. I’d be ok if they’re not here next year.

Opening up the year with this kind of bullpen wouldn’t be bad at all IMO.
No particular order

J Hernandez
J Leclerc
B Burke
T Hearn
J Tinoco
FA-Brad Hand / Taylor Rogers
FA- Corey Knebel/ Michael Fulmer
Trade- David Bednar/ Sam Moll
